Fat Lever: That’s quite subjective evidence you’re relying on to make your point. Have any evidence to back that up?

  • Fat Lever

As far as flow? I mean you could point to his assist/to ratio or determine what percentage he had the rock in his hands on offensive possessions, but I was going off of what I saw of him this year. My point was I thought he deserved 2nd team at worst based not only on concrete stats, but also on games I watched this year, and the role of a true pg to a winning team.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

So you think he was a better guard this season than (at least 1 of these 4) – Chris Paul, Tony Parker, Kobe Bryant, Russell Westbrook? — And For the Record, I would have had Dwyane Wade in over Westbrook. But regardless, you think Rondo was better than one of them this season?

  • http://Roosterteeth.com Caboose

And my counter is that Rondo did not make anywhere close to the impact Wade, Paul, Parker, Kobe, or Russ did. 3rd team is good, only for the last month of the season.

  • LP

Rondo was definitely not 1st or 2nd team this year…Think back, he barely made the ALLSTAR game (not that its the end all be all), he was a replacment…he was hurt earlier in the season…The allNBA team consist of players who were healthy for the most part this year…Blakes deserves some love, don’t let the playoffs fool you, he was a stud for most of the season…You can’t bicker at these teams, they are pretty legit..

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

I can bicker. Garnett being left off for Blake Griffin is ridiculous. And I would have also preffered Josh Smith over Melo, but that isn’t worth getting too worked up about. But the Griffin thing is absurd to me. Garnett was (without a doubt in my mind) a better overall player.

  • Rustler

if D Rose was healthier this season he would be second team AT LEAST!

  • http://Roosterteeth.com Caboose

Heck nbk, not just Garnett, but Josh, Duncan, Gay, and arguably Pierce all had better years. Griffin has the Kevin Love effect, just worse.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Yeah, but Garnett was clearly better. Well if anyone cares about defense it is clear.

  • http://www.waihak.blogspot.com Tariq

Dirk obviously suffered from no real training camp. Championship hangover. Josh Smith had his best season, making up for the absence of Al Horford. The only reason Dirk and not Josh is on here is reputation. Dirk is an all-time great, but this season Josh Smith was better. And it wasn’t really that close either.

  • http://cnbc.com JTaylor21

So Melo over JSmith isn’t worth getting worked up over but BGriff over KG is? At least BGriff was consistently good for most of the year while Melo sucked for 3/4ths of the season. If anyone has a major gripe about being left out, it’s JSmith.

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

It isn’t worth getting worked up over too me. Like I said, I personally would not have had it that way and don’t agree with those that do. But at least Melo was the best player on his team and legitimately carried them for a portion of the season. You can’t say that about Blake. Which is the root of my anger.

  • Scalabrine for MVP

    KOBE!!!

  • truthteller

Tyson was DPOY,right? Shouldn’t he make the First All NBA team and First All Defensive NBA team?

  • Steps Around Lue

i would take luis scola and marcin gortat over andre igoudala any day of the week for my all nba team. like wtf, honestly these voters on are on crack man.

  • Da-Meat-Hook

I would take the 3rd team over the 2nd team if they were to play each other . . .

  • AdamD

You do have to feel that these teams are somewhat of a popularity contest. So often people get on the fans for how they vote for all star starters but honestly the media types are no better. I think Josh Smith deserved something this year, he is very dynamic and really showed it for once.

  • http://www.nba.com VanCityBBall

griffin making second team is the biggest shame since berneard king was was denied HOF status… over lamarcus aldridge? kevin garnett? or TD Bank???? smh

  • http://Somethingsomething. Ugh

    FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!

  • http://Somethingsomething. Ugh

Also, what this commentary needs is your personal lists. Come on guys, I want a breakdown from each of you on how YOU would have voted for all three teams.

  • Drig

@Tre…..Andrew Bynum doesn’t deserve to be 1st team All-NBA. Because his play post All-Star break into the POs was very inconsistent to say the least. I probably would’ve put Wade over Kobe but Kobe’s played more games this season and had more changes so I can understand that I guess….What I cannot understand is how BGriff has made it………over LaMarcus. IMO, LaMarcus and KG should’ve taken 2nd and 3rd teams.

  • Drig

    1st team : CP3, Kobe/Wade, Durant, LBJ , Dwight
2nd team : TP, Kobe/Wade, KLove, LaMarcus, Drew
3rd team : Rondo, Westbrook, Iggy/JSmoove, KG, Chandler

  • http://www.slamonline.com Redd

Funny, then in that case Aldridge should’ve been up there instead of Dirk. And you said Deron had to shoot it because there was no one on his team but his assists were just fine & Kris was avg. 13 & 11. Shut up nbk.

  • http://Roosterteeth.com Caboose

Lol @ Redd. Dude doesn’t even know what he’s arguing. Why do you think Kris started putting up stats when a good point guard (Deron) came to his team while Carlos Boozer scores about 5 points less a game once Deron leaves? Knowing you, you probably think it’s because Deron shooting more caused Kris to shoot more too.

  • jose

Whoa whoa whoa ,so you’re telling me that someone can win MVP ande get ALL NBA first Team? lol

  • http://www.slamonline.com Redd

I don’t think you know. nbk said he was on the Nets & had to shoot it more yet clearly there’s another offensive reliable guy there. Him having a worse field goal percentage is not because he had to shoot it more it’s simply he’s not a better shooter than Derrick Rose.

  • http://Roosterteeth.com Caboose

Redd, you think Kris Humphries is more offensively capable than Carlos Boozer, Luol Deng, and Richard Hamilton? Cause that’s exactly what you just implied. Here, let me go through what you said. Deron obviously had to shoot more; that team is not comparable to the talent surrounding Rose, when you’re forced to take shots (this does not apply to people like Kobe who think they have to take shots when they really don’t), your FG% suffers. That’s just common sense. The only way your argument works is if the Nets’ supporting squad is just as strong as the Bulls’. Good luck with that.

  • Drig

@Redd…….Rose played just over half a season. And was rusty for a few of those games. If you think he deserves to be on that list over guys who’ve carried their teams this season to top seeds, namely Rondo, CP3 and TP for most of the season, you’re crazy. And just don’t try saying DRose is better than Deron as a playmaking PG man. Deron needs more exposure right about now……

  • http://www.slamonline.com megatron

yeah 3rd team would straight up clown the 2nd team. Blake Griffin being on there is a joke.

  • DukeFromDeep

Why is everyone so critical of the Griffin love? Kid is in his second year and despite so much negative attention about his limited game he is clearly learning all the time. I subscribe to slam magazine and to NBA league pass and have watched every Clippers game this year. I swear, watching Blake Griffin makes the game exciting again, and almost every game he does something I haven’t seen before. Watching him live entertains me, my gf and our little girl (she also likes BG and she is 6) and we all sit around the IMac watching league pass games. Sometimes, he dominates in an almost Michael Jordanesque way. They are comparable in that they are both exciting to watch and despite what anyone says I believe Blake is underrated. Second year only and such solid numbers. I know he will keep on growing. Wish he would release that jimpshot at the peak of the arch and not on the way down. That clutch he has limits him as a shooter. But you got to give it to him. He is the future.

  • Justin G.

Man, I don’t even know where to start here. First, I’ve been saying for a couple months Redd doesn’t know what he’s talking about and is a complete tool on this site. DukeFromDeep, I can’t believe you said Griffin sometimes dominates in an almost Michael Jordanesque way? Are you drunk? And I don’t understand how you can ask why everyone is so critical when your very next sentence says he has a limited game. I’d say that’s EXACTLY why people disagree with that vote. This is going to hurt to say but nbk is absolutely right as far as the Rondo talk goes. He wasn’t even as good as Steve Nash until mid March until he turned it on in March. I’m not even sure Wade should have been on the third team, what with his injury plagued season and all. Dirk and Carmelo being there is completely wrong as well.

  • http://slamonline.com KJ

@DukeFromDeep But being exciting and having loads of potential doesn’t merit an All-NBA team selection over guys like KG and Aldridge who already have refined games and play defense, something Blake has yet to learn.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

Deron took horrible shots. That is why his percentage was down not his teammates. You can have a good percentage with crap teammates. It just requires more energy.

  • jay rose

I’m a huge drose fan too but even I know he didn’t deserve to be in the all star team this year. All the other pgs in the league had a much better season because rose was pretty much out for almost half. But I agree with those that say TP shouldve been selected to the first team. He had an amazing season.

  • T. Brown

Rose will be back on the 1st team next year. Believe it.

  • R32

D-Wade was good in the regular season, but he looks nothing like the player we seen the past 3 games against Indiana. He’s turning back the clock and being that guy opposing teams fear. He should’ve gotten 2nd Team, 3rd Team is just disrespectful.

  • G Diesel

Like Tony Parker said, if they were playing in New York, they would be gods by now. He should be in the 1st team

  • http://Roosterteeth.com Caboose

DfD, I pretty much stopped reading after you said Griffin has (even once) dominated a game in a way even close to how Jordan dominated.
