    FIRST

  • http://slamonline.com KJ

Luis Scola…Ibaka…Gortat… Who the heck votes for these guys?

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Blake Griffin! BAHAHA – Great job NBA Coaches. Another pimple on your all-nba team. Josh Smith, Kevin Garnett, Lamarcus Aldridge > Blake Griffin this season. (They play DEFENSE)

  • http://slamonline.com BaconFist

One of the few times that all three All-NBA centers are actually centers…

  • http://cnbc.com JTaylor21

TParker or Westbrook should have made the 1st team over CP.
Josh Smith should have made it over BGriff on the 2nd team.
Carmelo shouldn’t be on here. One good month doesn’t make someone an all-nba performer.

  • LP

Can’t complain about this list, maybe replace chandler with Marc Gasol…Thats about it, everyone else is fine…replace Wade with Nash?? but im knitpicking…

  • pLaYz

WOW blake griffin should have never made this list…he cant shoot for nothing

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Why in the world would Westbrook be over Chris Paul?

  • Fat Lever

I thought for a majority of this season Rondo was the best PG in the league. He should have been no lower than 2nd team, and honestly wouldn’t have a problem if he made first.

  • http://cnbc.com JTaylor21

fanboyism. Personally, I felt that Westbrook had a better season than CP.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Redd

Wow…Derrick Rose didn’t make even 3rd team? Lol wow.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

    ^ Drunk?

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Ok, Rondo was not even close to the best PG in the league this season. He was great for the last month, other than that, he was pedestrian. And worse than last season. He shot 44% this season, and had his worst defensive season since his rookie year. He’s lucky he even got 3rd team.

  • Franco

Wow! Tyson Chandler and Melo making it over Tim Duncan.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Redd

Drunk? You’re an old idiot, he averaged 20 and 8.

  • Jono

Wow, really? Blake Griffin on the 2nd team? Who picks these guys needs their head examined.

  • http://nba.com GP23

I’m surprised that Dirk made third team..

  • Ctk

Griffin/Anthony shouldn’t be on either squad …..JoshSmith/PauGasol had better overall seasons…Melo quit on DaTon….Lin made it to where Melo April mattered….Griffin no good to u n the 4th…he feeds CP3 n the post n the 4th something ain’t rt about that….lol…Gasol best 3rd option n the league….I would have Nash over Rondo but understand the pick for Rondo

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Oh WOW 20 (it’s actually 21.8 but whatever) and 8!!!!!! That’s AMAZING!!! Deron Williams averaged 21 and 9….and played 55 games instead of 39. WHAT DO WE DO!!!

  • http://www.slamonline.com Redd

Last I checked his team sucked. He wasn’t the last MVP either. Again you’re an idiot.

  • gakbrenti

no rondo in the 1st team?

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Right Redd, because winning the MVP last season gets you awards this season. That makes PERFECT sense. I’m sooo stupid. And your right, these individual player awards have everything to do with how well the entire team performed. I mean sh*t, it’s not like Kevin Love wasn’t on the best team on EARFFF!!! And playing 39 games out of 66, that’s plenty. He definitely was a better player for the entire season then those other PG’s. Definitely.
    .
    Idiot.

  • north

nbk is right… Rose doesn’t belong on this list. I have to agree that Griffin as a 2nd teamer seems like a stretch too, unless whining is how a recorded stat. Josh Smith never gets any love does he? A PF that gets assists like he does should get something, let alone his point and boards this season.

  • Dankstank

I think K-love deserved first team this year

  • http://www.twitter.com/_dfrance dfrance21

I guess its a toss up for me with TP or CP3 for the 1st team, just kind of surprised Parker didn’t get more 1st place votes. I say this acknowledging the fact that I can’t stand Chris Paul.

  • http://www.twitter.com/_dfrance dfrance21

And the NBA definitely has a vendetta against Josh Smith. What else does he have to do to get recognized for his play?

  • mike

@nbk – Rondo was pedestrian except for the final month? Please don’t comment when you clearly don’t watch the games; it just makes you look ignorant.

  • thor

Maaan @nbk. Why do you have to talk/write like that. Even though you are completely right about the Rose thing and so on, you really come out as an.. well idiot. Are you telling yourself in the mirror how clever you are afterwards also?

  • thor

@Dfrance21. Exactly. Better shot selection I guess would be the only thing I can think of.

  • http://www.huwlhopkins.com #6marjon

it is shocking, absolutely shocking that tony paker didn’t make first team above chris paul. CP3 has had a great year but TP caried the spurs for about 75% of the season

  • http://www.slamonline.com Red

Derrick Rose’s numbers were just about the same as Derons and Rose had a better FG% despite playing less, again you’re an idiot.

  • Da-Meat-Hook

I’m still waiting for Redd to post one remotely logical comment on these boards . . .

  • http://www.slamonline.com spit hot fiyah

@nbk and dfrance: it says the media voted. not the coaches or the nba. rose played to little get consideration imo. and judging by the points some lunatics didn’t think durant should have been on the first team.

  • MUBWAR

Melo doesn’t deserve to be here over Josh smith. why is this atl boy so disrespected by the league every year. From all star snub to the all nba snub again. come on

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

thor, because that’s how i talk.
    .
Mike, (i didn’t mean pedestrian for a normal player. I meant pedestrian for Rondo, my bad for making it sound like that. that was wrong.) Rondo averaged 13pts and 10ast through the middle of March. He was still a very good player, but he wasn’t making the difference he was for the last month.
    .
From the middle of march to the end of the season, he was at 10pts and 13ast and he was absolutely controlling games.

  • http://Roosterteeth.com Caboose

Nbk, stop. Haven’t you realized that Kobe, Rose, and LeBron tend to bring out the irrational fanboys who argue that their favorite player is the best because they own his jersey? And yes, outside of the Celts’ excellent push for the high seed, Rondo was not anywhere close to an elite point guard. Around mid-March, he flipped it on, but to say he was a top tier guard the entire season is ludicrous.

  • http://www.slamonline.com spit hot fiyah

Red, go for the whole is bigger than the individual parts

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Spit, yeah it was the media (120 sportswriters i believe). my bad

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

“had a better fg% despite playing less” LOL – that makes PERFECT sense.
    .
Rose has a higher fg% because he is on the Bulls. And Deron Williams is on the Nets. One player is his teams only option. The Other isn’t. The correlation between shooting % is pretty easy to figure out. And I only brought up Deron Williams because Derrick Rose deserves to not be on the All-NBA team, just like Deron Williams deserves to not be on the All-NBA team. Not because I’m arguing Deron Williams got robbed. That’s not the case even a little bit.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Caboose, I AM BORED. Arguing about this BS is the only thing I have to entertain myself right now while I wait for some things to happen at work.

  • thor

Oh ok, that’s kind of sad…

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

    lol

  • http://www.slamonline.com Redd

And he attempted about 200-300 more than Derrick Rose. And despite his so called lack of teammates, he’s dished out more assists than Rose.

  • Fat Lever

nbk, really? Rondo got double digit assists in all but 16 games this year. He got 5 boards a game as a PG. And he wasn’t just great for the last month and a half(of a 4 month season by the way), he put together a series of games that was last done by Stockton I believe. He set the tone for the C’s this year. Pretty deserving of a 2nd or even 1st team to me.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

That’s because he’s a better passer and playmaker than Rose…this was his worst assist season since he was a rookie after all (hint: because he plays on the Nets).
    .
And Please Please Please explain the logic behind your belief that more shot attempts should equal a higher %. And When you are done with that gem of intelligent thought, please explain how overrated Kobe Bryant and Allen Iverson, and every other player with a low shooting % who shot a ton of shots are… Thanks!

  • http://www.celticsblog.com/2012/3/30/2913390/rajon-rondo-quietly-dominating nbk

Fat, yes really. Either click my name, or just read the following….
    .
“The Celtics are 13-5 since the All-Star break entering Friday night’s game with the Timberwolves, and Rondo’s rededication to ball security has been one of the reasons. Since the break, Rondo is averaging 12.4 assists and 3.6 turnovers compared with 9.5 and 3.7 in the first 22 games. But Rondo is hardly content. He realizes that some of his decisions may have cost the Celtics wins.

“I think I was doing too much; instead of making the simple pass, I am making the home run pass,” he said. “That’s just how I play. I’ll try to do a better job of it. If I do turn it over, I just don’t want it to lead to an easy break or fast-break points.”

  • http://slamonline.com Datkid

“wow rose didn’t even make the third team” I’m CRYING. for like the third or 4th year in a row wade should be 1st team instead of Kobe but whatever. I don’t honestly mind that westbrook is over wade though. I would be ok with TP being over cp3 bc he’s had such a phenomenal year in comparison but at the same time 1/2 of that seems like a product of the spurs system and it’s declining stars (although duncan is having a resurgence) and bc CP3 has to take it slow bc he’s still recovering from certain injuries. plus we all know that cp3 even on one leg is better than TP and I feel like paul could honestly use a couple more 1st team selections.

Melo doesn’t deserve to be here at all. I’m not sure Tyson chandler does either.

Deron williams probably does tho. His only crimes are being traded to a horrible team right before their best player went down with injury and being one of the teams that the magic stupidly decided not to trade with.

Blake is sitting in Josh smith’s seat. I feel like there are a bunch of people you could put there but idk who right now.

  • https://twitter.com/#!/AckbarMufasa Shecky Shabazz

I can deal with these selections. Follow me on twitter! Click the name!

  • Fat Lever

Ok nbk, I read it. That article was dated march 30th, there was almost 3 weeks of the season left to play still. What I took from that was an avg of 9.5 apg was low for rondo. I got the part about him thinking he cost the team wins, but you have to evaluate the entire season. Pg’s control the flow of the game. Very few, if any, did that better than rondo this year.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

The point being, at the All-Star break the Celtics were 6th in the East. They weren’t winning much, and Rondo wasn’t putting up gaudy stats that would make up for that. After the break, Rondo turned into a monster and the Celtics went on a big run. You can’t really say he was the best PG in the league if his team is 6th in their conference and he is having his worst statistical season in years. That doesn’t make sense. He was a top 3 or 2 PG the last month and a half of the season, but not the first 2 months. He was no better than, Parker – Paul – Westbrook – or Rose for the first part of the season. But he was better than all of them but (arguably) Paul and Parker for the last part of the year.
    .
We aren’t talking about whether or not Rondo was good to very good this season, we are talking about him being a top 3 PG all year long. Which is debatable at best. And he still did get on the 3rd team. So he (imo) got the respect he deserved.
