Nick Young ‘Still in Shock’ Over the Clippers’ Incredible Game 1 Win vs Grizzlies

Nick Young was one of the Clippers’ unexpected heroes during their remarkable, amazing Game 1 come-from-behind victory. Young, along with everyone who watched it happen, is still in disbelief over what took place. From the Commercial Appeal: “Clippers’ forward Nick Young finished an on-camera media interview before practice Monday in FedExForum, then plopped into the nearest courtside seat. The seat happened to be in the exact right corner of the court where Young buried two of three three-pointers in a 60-second span that positioned the Clips for a stunning 99-98 Western Conference first-round series-opening victory over the Grizzlies. Why that corner? Because Clippers’ all-star point guard Chris Paul told Young to go there. ‘Chris told me to be in spots and he’d find me, especially if I had a rhythm going,’ said Young, a 6-7 fifth-year pro who had a team-high 19 points on 6-of-9 shooting (3-of-4 threes) in almost 241/2 minutes. ‘I’m still in shock. I need to watch the fourth quarter again. I still can’t believe what happened.’ Neither can the Grizzlies, who led by 27 points with 2:12 left in the third quarter and by 24 with 11:37 left in the game. At that point, the Grizzlies couldn’t have imagined losing, or watching Young knock a 12-point Griz lead to three points at 96-93 in a blink with 1:47 left. And about six weeks ago as a member of the Washington Wizards, Young, a Los Angeles native, never thought he’d be in a playoff series knocking down a string of killer threes.”
