Numerous People Shot After Game 5 of Lakers/Thunder Series

An ugly shooting incident took place following the OKC Thunder’s close-out game against the visiting Lakers last night, as at least 8 people were wounded by gunfire, according to police. Reports the Oklahoman: “Five patients were taken to OU Medical Center, Lara O’Leary, Emergency Medical Services Authority spokeswoman confirmed Tuesday morning. She said on the scene last night a patient was assaulted. Two of the patients at OU were taken there by ambulance in critical condition. [...] About 11:35 p.m., shots were reportedly fired on Reno Avenue between Mickey Mantle Drive and Joe Carter Avenue, about three blocks east of Chesapeake Energy Arena. ‘Preliminary reports indicate that eight people were shot and one person suffered blunt trauma, and that person was a pregnant woman,’ Oklahoma City police Capt. Dexter Nelson said. ‘Everything is very, very preliminary. We still don’t know the actual number of victims. We believe that one person is critical, and the other injuries are not believed to be life-threatening,’ Nelson said. One person was shot in the back, another in the upper arm and a third in the hand, according to police radio traffic. The pregnant woman is thought to have been kicked in the melee, Nelson said. Two suspected shooters were in custody at the Harkins Bricktown Cinemas before midnight, Oklahoma City police Capt. Lisa Camacho said.”

Damn those oklahoma city fans. I knew they were thugs..

Nothing indicating that this had anything to do with the game. This is like someone getting shot in DC and assuming that it had something to do with the white house.

The people who were shot were in a crowd of folks walking home from the game. The game didn’t cause the shooting, but it did encourage a large number of folks to hit the streets, which always increases the chances for conflict.

Yay! We won! Let’s beat up pregnant women!
    Stay Classy, Oklahoma City.

I’ll never understand the whole “riot for joy” approach to celebration.

Everyone is scared to fight these days. What a sissified society we live in. “Hey I can’t fight fight and I can’t take a punch; lemme shoot and kill someone”. I hope they throw the book at whomever did it.

in Seattle fans would’ve just drank Starbucks and blast Alice in Chains all night. WTF were those cowboys doing after the game in OKC??

  • vmcb

lol at charliewinning for advocating physical violence while chastising the shooting. My thoughts go out to the victims and their families.

  • http://abcnews.com charliewinning

LOL @vmcb missing a blatantly obvious point.

  • AQWORD

^^^ Vmcb was the other person who suffered blunt trauma.

Every city in America has gun violence. It has nothing to worh the Thunder or the Lakers. This is an act of cowardice and weakness. I was there I saw the aftermath. It was s bunch of thugs shooting a bunch of women. Losers acting foolish. This crap happens everuday in America, just so happened this time after a Thunder game. Till more is spoke as to why they shot the women, I will hold judgement.

haha funny how everyone is saying it was OKC fans and or thugs… PROBABLY was the same LAKERS fans that sent death threats to Blake and his WIFE after he missed a three at second game, which obv. NO laker player wanted to step up and take that shot. Laker fans can NOT accept losing. Got to go out with a fight hahahaa

  • Mike

I bet it was laker fans too but they probably wont bring that to attention though, it would cause more problems. I dont know why only one person mentioned that. I read the actual tweet sent to Steve Blake after he missed that shot. I wouldn’t put anything past a laker fan. Messed up man

Another reason to hate OKC. Not talking about the Thunder, but the city. Really sucks here in OKC. Worst place I’ve been in all my years in the military.

SO glad I’m not an American… In Aussie we just play state of origin football, it’s way better!
