Orlando Magic Want Dwight Howard to Sign an Extension, or Else …

The Orlando Magic’s season from hell came to an end at long last, but the Dwight Howard nightmare is far from over. The team’s CEO attempted to draw a line in the sand last night. From BHSN: “After Orlando’s season game to a close in Tuesday night’s loss to the Pacers in Game 5, Magic CEO Alex Martins sounded like there will not be a repeat of the drama the team went through for most of this season. ‘If he decides not to sign an extension, then we’re going to make decisions necessary so we don’t go through a season like we went through this year,’ Martins said. When prodded if he meant he would trade Howard if he didn’t sign a long-term deal, Martins added, ‘We’ll cross that bridge when we get there but our number one goal is to get him to sign an extension this summer.’ In the next few weeks, Magic general manager Otis Smith will also evaluate whether he wants to return to the team next season. The Orlando Sentinel first reported Smith isn’t sure he wants to return for the final year of his contract. ‘There’s nothing new about that,’ Smith said. ‘I evaluate my own situation every year. I talk things over with my family and go from there.’ Smith said he and Stan Van Gundy always face an annual review by the front office. ‘There’s nothing new about that either. We do this every year.’ Orlando’s win percentage has dropped in four straight seasons, playoffs included. Van Gundy said shortly after the season came to an end, that he would like to remain on the bench at the Amway Center.”

So dissapointed with this article, I though it would say:

That actually could make sense ^ Try and get Kemba, Biyombo, and Charlotte’s pick (A. Davis) for Jameer and Dwight if it adds up. Add some fillers.

Lol reminds me of Team America where Kim Jong Ill says, “Or else what?” gotta watch that movie it’s hilarious

  • misso

damn, the drama already started & we just lost yesterday. give us a break. regardless GO MAGIC!!!

Problem is trading Dwight will be alot harder than ppl may think. If he doesnt like his destination then he wont sign there either. Teams/owners will be hesitant to pull the trigger on a trade for him, if they arent going to have him long term.

  • bravo

    Dwight = pussy cat

  • Bobitto

He’s most likely not singing an extension, might as well start taking bids… in the teams best interest, not his unless it coencides.

    Here we go.

OH MY GOD TRADE HIM ALREADY

  • LA Huey

Ldub, Denver got a pretty good haul for Melo despite making it clear he only had one destination he’d be wanted to be. Dwight’s got at least two teams he’s interested in.

Dwight will end up very ronery.
    Word to T-Ray.

Dwight’s been awfully quiet the last few weeks…he’s overdue for another stupid moment.

Dwight better sign an extension or else……. we will give him exactly what he wants… lol – big time threat Magic. Good work.

  • lakernation

I believe if they would trade him to a team that he would not want to play for like Charlotte or the N.O hornets he would be disappointed and that would be better for Orlando unlike the Shaq trade. He wants to be traded to a big market team like Chicago Miami New York or L.A.

  • Cameron

Wow Magic, you’ve proven you’re nothing without Dwight. You really think he cares if you trade him now?

  • http://redoftoothandclaw.ca niQ

Why would you still want him? Just trade him to the Raptors… =)

I know this is beyond insane. But if the Bobcats could draft Anthony Davis & then make a trade for D. Howard somehow…that’d be the biggest move since Miami’s big 3..

  • Indy B

@Red. They’d still have to score.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Red

I’m sure they’d be able to find at least 1 scorer, and they’d be great on the fastbreak. Even more so, at half court with a decent passer(Steve Nash?). I mean, Jordan has to think outside the box I think.

anthony davis not going to be that sweet as a pro, he’ll be like a joakim noah type. not bad just not worth a top pick. i rather the magic go for andre drummond if possible, kids going to be a beast. davis is just to much of a tweener. not big emough for the 4 and 5 at the nba level, at best he’ll be a marcus camby

  • Justin G.

Nash isn’t going anywhere near Orlando, especially without Howard.

  • SB

Whatever happens, It’s stii GO MAGIC! but I really do hope we trade Dwight and change up our roster. Dwight is such a cry baby…give him what he wants so he can shut up. I like our coach, but he has his moments so I don’t care about that. As far as Otis, I’m not sure either bc sources were saying that all the “bad” trades that he has done in the past were coming from what Dwight wanted and if that’s the case…ditch the source (Dwight) and we’re good.

  • felicia

he needs to leave, and go somewhere else. dwight is a boy not a man. he whines. he needs to grow up.orlando needs to let him go. find another team dwight. And Dwight is not all that.

  • PnoyVibe

I hope he goes to Chicago; I swear him and Drose would be a bigger duo than Shaq and Kobe
