Rajon Rondo: ‘We Feel We Can Beat Miami’

by Marcel Mutoni @marcel_mutoni

Most people expect the Miami Heat to return to the NBA Finals this season; it’s just a matter of how many games it takes to dispatch the aging, broken-down Boston Celtics.

Rajon Rondo, as one might expect, doesn’t share in this view.

The Celtics’ superstar point guard and team leader is very confident in his squad’s ability to knock off the heavily favored Heat.

From Fox Sports, via Sulia:

Rajon Rondo believes Celtics can beat Heat.

“We feel we can beat Miami. Obviously, we got to this point. There’s no doubt in our mind we can.

We got to go down there and take care of business.”

Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals takes place in Miami tonight, and it promises to be a bitterly fought series between two rivals who don’t particularly care for one another.

The odds may not be in favor of Rajon Rondo and the Boston Celtics, but as always, they’re not exactly scared of the challenge.

if miami can play that lockdown gutter defense and lebron & wade continue to play out of their minds, miami in 5 or 6. they also need to control eondo & kg.

  • Kid Dynamite

    Ummm…just like last time huh?

  • http://moontain.org Fredd

Heat in 6 at least. garnett and the C’s are not lying to themselves when they are saying things like that or will trashtalk the Heat like the Pacers did … they will back it with some great plays, men’s plays, who knows if a surprise will be or not …

  • http://www.slamonline.com keep it real

Rondo is the most overrated player in the NBA.

Lmfao at the guy that said Rondo’s overrated, the Celtics wouldn’t even have a 17th banner without him

  • Moj

It won’t matter who comes out on top. Whoever it is will have to eventually play the Spurs. And then it’s game over.

  • Gregg

    Orioles in 12.

  • Rrfanatic

Spurs is going to take the chip

  • momoney

Rondo the most overrated? Guess that guy hasnt heard of kobe bryant

^^ word ^^ or Andrew Bynum.

  • ill Smith

The Heat have problems with quick point guards, the Celtics can match them defense for defense, and I heard that Pierce and Shuttlesworth are pretty clutch.

  • boss

this team always talks since last year miami will win in 5 or 6

  • 1tail

Rondo overrated?! Guess that guy hates triple doubles.

  • http://www.kb24.com The Seed

Celtics in 6. You heard it first hear. BOOK IT!!

  • http://facebook.com/tronjohnson Chief

If Rondo get’s a triple double then the C’s win period. To get four out of him is a tall order.

  • IamYOU

  • http://www.slamonline.com Nick Tha Quick

  • http://Roosterteeth.com Caboose

I’m with you Riggs, a KG/TD showdown for the first time in their storied careers? Epic.

  • Dirk Nowitzki’s Mane

^right with you on that one.

  • Bh

Sorry fellas, it’s 2012 — not 2003. It’s going to be Heat/Thunder. The Heat will win in 6.

  • http://www.facebook.com/joe.l.brewer3 BlackPhantom

Rondo isn’t overrated in any aspect of the game, except defense.

  • Josh

Overrated? Stats don’t lie, you cretins. Great PG.

  • http://slamonline.com The Philosopher

The purest point guard since Jason Kidd.
Not the best since Kidd. (Chris Paul)
    But the purest.

  • http://kb24.com x-DrEw_MaiN-x

    Lmaoooo BH… Heat In 5…

  • http://redoftoothandclaw.ca/ niQ

@Caboose. It’s not the first time they will face off in the playoffs against each other…They went head to head in the 2000-2001 playoffs.

  • http://slamonline.com Datkid

Rondo is an incredible point guard… but he is delusional. although in all fairness what was he supposed to say?

  • jose

I don’t think Boston in is that bad a shape to where they will win only 1 game. . Heat in 6

  • http://www.facebook.com/joe.l.brewer3 BlackPhantom

    Co-sign Philo 100%

  • http://www.sportsgrid.com/media/shaq-kobe-highlights/ shutup

I’m scared for the Heat, the extra workload for Bron and Wade I feel are going to have a negative consequence. Wade is not 100% and with him having to play at a beyond superstar level I fear for his health. I think in either game 2-3 he might suffer an injury, I hope I am wrong, but with all the injuries that have happened this season it doesnt look good. If the Heat stay healthy I see it going 6, if my feeling turns out to have a foot in reality then I see the Celtics taking the series in 6 or 7.

  • Ranlygeorge

I wonder who the Heat is going to take out this time around. Wade took out Rondo last year. Bron took out Granger this year. I think it Ray Allen or KG turn. Celtics in six

  • http://Roosterteeth.com Caboose

Ah good point Niq. I meant in a fairer contest I suppose. Either way, still would be awesome given how well they’re playing.

  • BostonBaller

I love the fact that LBJ had the ball palmed in the air in front of KG ad was making sounds, then he did a lil behind the back flip pass a minute later and was all smiles at the FT line. KG may remember every second of it and Doc will show it during film session. The NBA, where payback takes a bite out of your butt.

Rondo overrated? What is your favorite team? Who is their PG?

  • http://slamonline.com Datkid

  • truthteller

Rondo and Kobe bryant overrated? Wow!You don’t really mean that do you?

  • Lin4President

It will be a Heat vs. Thunder Final. The NBA is rigged, they will definitely put the biggest stars on at that time.

  • http://Roosterteeth.com Caboose

I won’t say the NBA is rigged unless the Hornets win the lottery.

Ray Allen is broke right now & he cant guard Wade in this shape. Paul pierce cant guard Bron. K.G. can get his but Miami in 5. Mike Miller finally woke up. Jeah!

  • Drig

Uum Rondo……unless Ray starts playing like Jesus and not like Ronnie Brewer ( yeah, a nobody ), you guys are screwed.

  • Hobbes

Unless Ray & Paul are healthy and Bosh stays out… C has a shot.

  • http://slamonline.com Henkenzo

Didn’t feel like a playoff game at all.

  • http://slamonline.com raylan

@Caboose Oh you know it’s coming

  • 2307

Im a HEAT fan, but gotta say the C’s have a chance as long as bosh doesnt play, their a great organisation with great coaching and h.o.f players! they have a real shot! that being said I obviously hope the HEAT win!

  • http://www.triplejunearthed.com/dacre Dacre

The most under rated player of all time….

    Luc Longley.

  • 2307

also the the HEAT can beat ether the spurs or okc! they beat them both in the reg season!

  • FkStern

Its Rigged … NBA isider says .Miami beats celtics … Blame stern
