Report: LeBron James Wins NBA MVP Award

Miami Heat forward LeBron James has won the NBA’s Most Valuable Player Award, according to multiple reports. This is James’ third time winning the prestigious MVP, becoming the eighth player to win the award at least three times, joining Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Michael Jordan, Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson and Moses Malone. Much respect and salute, LeBron. ESPN has the details: “A person familiar with the decision told The Associated Press that James will be announced Saturday as this year’s winner of the league’s top individual honor, and that he’ll be formally presented with the trophy by commissioner David Stern on Sunday afternoon before Miami hosts Indiana in Game 1 of an Eastern Conference semifinal series. James said last week that while another MVP award ‘would be amazing and would be humbling,’ it’s not what drives him. In his ninth season, James still has not won an NBA title and it’s clear that, although he wanted to reclaim the MVP trophy, winning a championship is far and away his top basketball priority. James averaged 27.1 points, 7.9 rebounds and 6.2 assists — making him only the fourth player with those totals in at least two different seasons, according to STATS LLC, joining Oscar Robertson (five times), John Havlicek (twice) and Bird (twice).”

If KD played lock down defense he probably would’ve got it. I feel like that cornball Tony Parker should’ve gotten SERIOUS consideration for it tho. He doesn’t have half the talent or youth on his team that LeBron has, yet he led his team to the best record. He is a cornball tho…

Not MVP, Numbers Do Lie and its a shame, that the MEDIA feel they need to give him a MVP. Its a sad day with a Choker and Loser gets a MVP for asking to join another man team, he won a ring for and the Media act like it never happened. The media wrote stories about how they could not believe a player who won back 2 back MVP’s, team had the best record to straight years and he decides to leave to form SuperFriends. Media gives him a MVP trophy for it, now when other NBA superstars start joing teams in the same fashion as Lebron, I do not want to hear the MEDIA state its SAD. They the MEDIA just rewarded a man who went on national TV and stated he does not want the PRESSURE or HEAT of leading a team to a ring and trying to score 30 a game. WHAT HAS AMERICA COME TO?

The real MVP of the regular season was Tony Parker, check stats and his record with players missing. If Nash could get it and his Team did not have the best record in the NBA one of those years or both. Tony’s team had the best record and he was the DRIVING FORCE. He DESERVED IT!!

@ O, you obviously saw 0 spurs games this season if you SERIOUSLY think that parkers team was lacking in talent, or that they do not have any YOUNG talent. green, blair, leonard… tony parker has the advantage of playing for BY FAR the best coach in the nba today.

@23, you right, i saw very few Spurs games. But are you saying Parker does or doesnt deserve MVP consideration? And @ BRYANT BYNUM GASOL, W…. T…. F?! Funny as hell tho. LOLOLOL…

Parker definitely deserves to be in the conversation, but the spurs have a deep and underrated bench. A lot of youth. Not to mention Duncan. Manu was injured a lot. But I just find it hard to give spurs individual credit I’d their name is not Duncan or Popovich. But Parker definitely balled out this year. But nobody was on lebrons level

Durant broke out into a man on the court. But LeBron finished 4 in defensive poy voting. Rich other MVP candidate did tthat this year?

Come hither all you haters. Best player ever, even without the rings. You know he could win it (MVP) every year but as you can see the test is us as witnesses where not everyone will embrace God Given talent when their hearts are filled with jealousy and envy. The truth hurts. Tony Parker had a great year and should have split the award with LeBron. Other than that, there are no arguments. Congrats LBJ. Told you so haters.

    This is sad, just sad

    I am b@llsack all day

I hate Lebron but for the next 8 years the title is his to lose. He’s that good.

  • http://slamonline.com KJ

I don’t get the logic of some people here who say that “He’s playin with 2 superstars he doesn’t deserve it”. Take Kobe out of the Lakers they still make it to the playoffs. Same with KD and Parker. So by that logic, that means Dwight should be MVP? Don’t think so.

RKJ92 tha’s a very good estimate. But I sure would like to suck on the real thing!

  • iknowmybasketball

a person with nba knowledge would know lebron clearly won this award. if you think otherwise, please give detailed and factual statements. one liners dont cut it people. thanks.

  • guahan

wow slam that is the picture you put up for his MVP achievement?? LOL what’s up with that??

  • Nashty

KD deserve this award! DURANT was ROBBED.

  • Asgardian

    Durant got robbed!

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

Durant was only robbed if you don’t know what your talking about.

  • http://slam kingaling

Durant would have been a worthy winner, but this award was, and will be for a few years to come LeBron’s to lose. Hands down the best in the league. Anyone who says otherwise, find a new sport to follow, because you clearly have no interest in this one.

I see what you’re saying NBK, but I guess I’m just not sold on the current criteria for MVP then. Most Valuable Player, to me, should be the player that a team absolutely could succeed without. Giving it to a dude who has 2 of the top 15 players in the league playing with him just irks me a little bit. Whatever though, just my opinion. I’m not really mad about it or anything.

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

You could make a very solid argument that both Harden and Westbrook are top 15-20 players. That and Ibaka & Perkins are better than everyone on the Heat other than the big 3. LeBron led Miami in everything, PTS, RBS, AST, STLs, & FG%. There just is no arguing that, Durant doesn’t come close to that production for his team. Sh*t, nobody does that for their team. And LeBron does it despite having other great players taking shots and possessions. I don’t think people understand how crazy that is.
