Report: Patrick Ewing Eliminated from Bobcats Coaching Pool By Michael Jordan

Michael Jordan delivered yet another L to Patrick Ewing, by personally informing him that he’s no longer being considered for the coaching gig in Charlotte. Reports Yahoo! Sports:“After an interview with Charlotte management, owner Michael Jordan personally reached out to Patrick Ewing to tell him he’s been eliminated as a candidate to coach the Bobcats, a league source said. Charlotte is waiting to see whether it will win the NBA draft lottery on Wednesday night and get the chance to draft Kentucky’s Anthony Davis before it begins a second round of interviews for the opening, sources said. Golden State assistant Mike Malone, ex-Portland coach Nate McMillan and Hall of Fame coach Jerry Sloan are among the most prominent candidates for the job. Ewing, an assistant coach for the past five seasons in Orlando, is a close friend of Jordan’s, and that may have actually worked against the Hall of Fame center in the hiring process. Jordan has been subject to biting criticism for hiring too many cronies and ‘yes’ men through the years, and merely inviting Ewing for the interview started to inspire those kind of shots at Jordan again.”

    At least Jordan can make one good decision…

    Hire McMillan. Should be an obvious one, even to MJ.

    If they can get Sloan and keep him, this will do wonders for a squad that could potentially make some moves this summer to place themselves in a great rebuilding position.

    Pg- Kemba Walker (Someday a Jason Terry like player)

    He gave Pat an interview to see what he had to say. Patrick has been trying for years with any team that will give him a chance. I hope he gets a chance somewhere, but I’m pretty happy it isn’t Charlotte.

    I’m going to go out on a limb, here;
    Ewing could never be a big time NBA coach.
    Was never the brightest star in the sky, on the court.
    Was quite stubborn, in fact.
    Also, during the first lockout, he burned some bridges.
    Jordan was his best shot, up to this point.

    MJ is way too proud to even consider the notion of one of his inferiors being responsible for the success of his franchise…..his pride is what caused him to draft Kwame Brown as well….lol

    The only mistake MJ made is not waiting until after the Draft Lottery to deliver the bad news to Pat… Ewing Jamaican curse is not to play with. Worst record in NBA history and no #1 pick to show for it. Have fun with that.

    The Hornets coaching job is similar to the next Presidential election – the “winner’s curse.”
