Stan Van Gundy: ‘I Want to Comeback’

The Orlando Magic’s tumultuous season mercifully came to an end last night, as the Indiana Pacers ushered them out of the Playoffs. Head coach Stan Van Gundy, despite all that’s gone on this year, said he wants to keep his job. Per USA Today: “I want to come back. But it’s not up to me,’ Van Gundy said after the 105-87 loss to the Pacers. ‘As far as the speculation, it’s the same thing I’ve been saying all year. They’ll make a decision when they make a decision. I’m not going to worry about it, I’ll tell you that. As long as I’m coaching, I’ll continue to do my work and get ready for next year. And if they want to make a change, make a change. It’s up to them.’ [...] Looking ahead to next season, Van Gundy said having a healthy team will make a difference. ‘I’m not going to make excuses, but why is Chicago down 3-1? You’ve got to be healthy,’ he said. ‘Health plays a big role in it with key guys.’ But he declined to say what kind of changes he would like to see. [...] Van Gundy said it wasn’t a rough year for him off the court, despite the circus that engulfed him and Howard. Van Gundy, late in the season, said that Howard asked management to fire him. ‘My family life has been good. My wife likes me … most days. It hasn’t been a tough year off the court,’ he said. ‘The stuff with our team has been tough. I do have a life outside of it, and that life has been pretty good. My kids are doing well, and my wife likes me.’”

Why? If I’m Stan, there’s no way I’d want to coach a spoiled brat like Dwight who tried to get him fired. He’s a good coach, would easily get another job either in the league or on TV with his brother. Time to move on.

I want one night alone with Zoe Saldana. I think I have a better shot at that, than Stan does at returning as head coach of the Magic.

The Knicks will love a coach who wants them to take three’s every possesion.

Get your spelling right SLAM, “I Want to Comeback”…he doesn’t want to come back to coaching after a retirement, or win a game that we was trailing, he wants to return as their coach next season (“Come Back vs. Comeback”)

“‘My kids are doing well, and my wife likes me.’” LMFAO

I want SVG back as well. He’s the best coach this franchise has ever had IMO and it would just be a shame if he gets canned because Dwight is boo-boo-bee-booing about nothing.

Wasn’t it just over a month ago that he said, “If they want to fire me, then fire me; I don’t care!”? See my problem with him is how much of a hypocrite he is when it comes to the media. He can say anything at any time ever and it’s him criticizing his team. When a player does it, that guy becomes a crybaby, softie, wimp, etc. Double standard for sure.

He doesn’t deserve another year to be honest. He had his time, give somebody else a shot. Fire Otis Smith too. Van Gundy’s system and the group Otis assembled could not get the job done. If Orlando extends Dwight and goes in a new direction they’ll have a much better shot of winning a ring than they do right now.

Unless the Comeback is a dance move that should be two words, not one.
