Brandon Bass to Become an Unrestricted Free Agent

Brandon Bass will make his services available on the open market this summer, but his preference is remain in Boston. From CSNNE: “Oh absolutely,’ his agent Tony Dutt said when asked if Boston was his client’s first choice. ‘Without question, he would love to go back.’ The decision to not pick up the final year of his contract, worth $4.25 million, is driven by Bass’ desire to sign a long-term deal with the C’s. Following Boston’s Game 7 loss to Miami, he told reporters about his desire to return next season to Boston. ‘I would love to be back here,’ he said at the time. ‘The fans here are unbelievable. For any player, this organization is the organization that you want to play for.’ […] The only issue left to resolve — and it’s a big one — is determining Bass’ value. He was due to earn $4.25 million next season. But in all likelihood, the Celtics would have to offer him something that at the very least was in the same neighborhood or higher, of the four-year, $26 million contract signed by Glen Davis when the C’s sent him via sign-and-trade to Orlando for Bass. Bass has been reluctant to say much about his contract status. ‘I’m no different than anyone else,’ Bass said recently. ‘I’m going to do what’s best for me and my family. Hopefully that’ll keep me here in Boston. We’ll see.’”

I like Bass, hopefully for the Cs they can keep him. If KG isn’t there he can get you about 18 and 9 easy.

This guy is a pretty good scorer. He has a very consistent mid range jumper. He would be a nice pick up for any team that needs help offensively.

  • Ldub

He would be a nice pick up for any team period. He can get you a double double off the bench and plays solid defense. Plus his shoulders are wide as a house and he kept LBJ in front of him a good amount of the times he ended up guarding him 1 on 1. Solid all around baller. Id swoop him up if I could.

When Danny swapped him for Big Baby, he was already thinking he would not re-sign him, and have the money available to spend in ’13. Based on his production, however, Danny might be thinking about re-signing him, but I doubt it. He’s got to see if KG wants to come back first. Then address what he wants to do with Jeff Green and/or Chris Wilcox. My guess is they let both Ray and Bass go.

I’d hate to see Bass walk away if KG doesn’t return. If both leave, the Cs need to make some big moves.

I really hope we don’t overpay for Bass. He’s a terrible individual post-defender, his method of blocking shots makes him prone to foul calls, and while he’s a good FT and mid-range shooter, Rondo makes his job very easy by feeding him open looks on a regular basis. Bass is nothing special, he won’t ever average anything near 18 and 9 with KG gone, because he’d be more of the focus. If they want a stretch 4, I’d rather they re-sign Jeff Green and let Bass walk, Green is bigger, has a better jumper, defends better and is younger with more upside. Plus he can play the SF too.

Solid player with an excellent attitude and tremendous work ethic. At the proper price there isn’t a team in The L that couldn’t use his services…

didn’t see him play for the hornets, but i have liked this dude ever since dallas. plays all out

    He is handsome

Bass is a hard worker and has a good attitude. If it’s a choice, I’d take him over Jeff Green. Green plays too timid.

Bass would be a good fit for the Clippers, they could use him and Lamar Odom…

  • ClydeSays

He’s a nice player off the bench, but pretty average as a starter. He picked up his D a little, but he’s no stopper.

I wouldn’t pay him any MORE… I would just give him along contract (that he wants) but average on the quantity guage… the kind of guy that in NBA 2k12 scales doesn’t have team loyalty..

  • vtrobot

@ nbk: he’s worth the money for that reason alone. he’s got a great body too.

    @nbk and Vtrobot: LMAO

I don’t know if that’s the real nbk, but I was channelling Scott Brooks for a moment.
