Carmelo Anthony Believes ‘Time is Coming’ to Win a Championship

Melo is training hard this offseason, having lost 12 pounds already since his Knicks were ousted from the Playoffs. Anthony thinks it’s only a matter of time until he’ll be hoisting up the Larry O’Brien Trophy. Per the NY Post: “After watching his buddy [LeBron] James win his first title last Thursday, Anthony said that could be him soon. Anthony sent LeBron a congratulatory text message that night. ‘I believe my time is coming,’ Anthony said. ‘I’m a big believer in that. Whether this year or next year, I truly believe our time is coming. We’re going to keep playing for that. ’ Anthony has been training for the London Olympics with Tyson Chandler in Los Angeles and said he’s lost 12 pounds, down to 239, since the playoffs ended in the first round in five games to the eventual champion Heat. Knicks coach Mike Woodson and his staff visited Anthony, Chandler and Jeremy Lin last week in L.A. and the coaching staff was impressed. Woodson had talked about ‘Melo being in better shape next season. ‘I’m exceeding expectations,’ Anthony said. ‘They were kind of shocked to see me down in weight. They came to my workout, saw it. They’re actually excited how much hard work I’ve put in since the season ended.’ Anthony said the Woodson visit was terrific, with the belief Lin assuredly is re-signing. ‘We’re just trying to get that camaraderie right now and a family mentality, tried to create a bond, not just on the court but off the court,’ Anthony said.”

Great. Now people are gonna say Melo will never win a ring. But I think whoever is out west are the one who will be ringless. The Eastern conference is getting back to dominance. Think about it. OKC smashed all the good teams. But the east was tight all the way through. I think New York could steal a chip from Bron’ and the Heat one time. But they need to get Ray Allen before Miami does. Boston is a playmaker away from contender. New York needs to say healthy. Philly is scary. Indiana needs hunger. ATL needs Dwight.

…OH and the Bulls are D.um.b. DRose is the truth but ADIDAS ruins career. Sorry Sonny. Your welcome SLAM. Write an article on that. Sneaker brands that ruin careers. Myth or Fact? I’ll let y’all decide…..P.S. SLAM, when are y’all gonna hire me? I’m a homerun hitter when it comes to this ish. Anthony Davis is Greg Oden 2.O, and MKG is Durant 2.o.

@nbk: sure they can add a backup, they still own the mle so that should be good for one addition. the numbers on defensive efficiency speak a different language, they r a top 5 top 10 defensive team. u saw only one knicks game this season?

Nah they have the mini-MLe and they are using it to resign JR Smith.

Dan, their regular season defensive efficiency is 100% irrelevant in the playoffs. I know all about how good they are. And no, trust that of all the people to give a basketball opinion on this site, I am certainly not one to do it without watching the teams play. I know the Knicks are a top 5 team in the east, and will be for a couple more years. But they cannot take any steps forward. James Dolan forcing the Melo trade and then the Tyson Chandler signing completely crippled their ability to be flexible. The Amar’e signing was bad enough by itself. The rest was just horrid. Like havin a broken leg and shooting yourself in the spine in hopes that it somehow fixed it. Sorry bruh.

So (the real me) hasn’t posted once here. This entire thread was the troll.

I think the odds are good that Melo goes the way of Charles Barkley and Patrick Ewing. There are only so many championships to go round over the next six or seven years and the Thunder, Bulls, Heat (ugh, the Heat) and even the Clippers have a better shot than the Knicks do.

i agree that it was a big mistake to give chandler a contract that big and to give up all that talent for melo instead of waiting for the offseason, then they wouldntve had to give up that much. but thats just the past. with shumpert back on board plus whoever they sign with their mle the knicks will be a legit contender. i am really convinced of that n will be the first one to eat my words if they wont get to the finals within the next three years. n i see the conference finals as a minimum this coming season. its just their time

^How are they getting to the ECF? They have to have what it takes to defeat the all but one of the Celtics, the Heat, the Bulls, the Hawks, the 76ers. It’s not even a given they can beat any of those teams in a best-of-7, let alone all but one of them.

Carmelo is one of the greatest talents in the world and when hes in Great shape the greater he plays im not worried at all about melo. Amare on the other hand will be the key. Honestly i dont have much faith in him anymore and he doesn’t play with any ferocity. At all anymore. Melo is gona be great but the team will only go as far as amare takes melo. If amate can get back to “almost all star” caliber and become a better rebounder and melo a more willing passer. Which can be done. NYK will contend. They also need another pg besides lin maybe jason kidd. I still feel lin isnt ready. Hes not gonna be under the radar anymore. So we’ll see

on paper they are as good or better as any of these teams. its just a matter of weathrt they gel or not. n they r not overhauling the roster again so they will definetely come together especially after all they went through this year.

Sorry, but melo has always been a LOSER. Amare too. They were foolish to let Lin walk, he was their only true positive story. If its taken melo almost 10 years to be “committed” to winning, the bockers are screwed with him. He reminds me of nique’, selfish, flashy, highlights galore. But no ring. Dolan screwed up BIGtime. Like, as in, 10 more years of heartache. Dork.
