Gerald Wallace set to Opt-Out with the Nets

After trading what ultimately turned out to be this year’s number six Draft pick for Gerald Wallace, the Nets now find themselves in danger of losing Wallace to another team. It has been reported that Wallace will opt-out of his final year with the Nets in search of a longer and more stable contract. While Wallace and his support group will certainly be fielding offers from other teams, there is a good chance that he will sign re-sign with the Nets, so says Charlotte Observer writer Rick Bonnell via Twitter. While the Nets and their fanbase have high hopes heading into Brooklyn, things have certainly gotten off on the wrong foot with the potential departures of Deron Williams and Gerald Wallace. If both of them walk, the Nets will have a depleted roster and will be ushering in a new era without a star player–Welcome to Brooklyn, indeed.

Shocking. Man, if they can’t get Dwight, Deron walks, and they are SCREWED for a few years since they traded their picks to get Crash and Deron.

If he indeed does resign I think its more likely Deron stays. But Billy King didn’t seem like he expected Wallace to reign. I’d rather have Humphries stay honestly.

sounds like the best player on the Nets on opening day in Brooklyn will be Anthony Morris.

the solution to all of their problems: dwight howard. bk must trade for him howard to sign/resign wallace and williams.

  • O

Why’d they trade their draft pick for this kid again? Seriously. How is this guy THAT much better than a loaded NBA draft this year?

  • Kobe

They both should sign with the Lakers! The 2 positions LA needs to fix!

  • Heals

No who is Anthony Morris (I know, just messing)? @O, I think the perception that this draft is loaded has been over-hyped and now it’s looking more like a decent draft with good depth, but not many major pieces. Even so that trade is inexcusable at best…

right Kobe, the Lakers definitely have the cap room to sign 2 good players even though your 30 mil next year already ate up half the cap room. i’m glad you made the tough decision to feed your family first.

Gerald Wallace there is a lovely small forward position open on the Warriors I think you would do great in.

Billy King NEEDS to be fired. Worst move ever. Trading # 6 pick to get Crash for 3 months. Fire Avery Johnson too. Spike Lee as the GM and Patrick Ewing the coach. Make it happen JIGGA!!!

To the Knicks… make it happen, Dolan.

If Deron and Crash both walk, Nets could challenge the Bobcats for worst ever.

Is Crash going for the free agency guinness record?

  • Brian Newell

  • Drig

The 6th pick for a Wallace rental.

Billy King, you are one smart stud.

  • gubbins

With the 1st pick in the 2013 NBA draft…oh…what? They traded it for the last 2 months of a decent players contract? Really? Again?

  • Wixurrs

The 6th pick in the 2012 Draft, 2 other future 1st Round Picks (unprotected), Devin Harris, Derrick Favors, Mehmet Okur, Shawne Williams, and $3 million cash for 7 months of the Deron Williams and Gerald Wallace duo……..the one and only BILLY KING.

  • Wixurrs

I’m Allen Iverson and I approve of the above messages.

  • Mas

So does this get Billy King a raise and a promotion? I mean being so close to Wall St. maybe they have some of the same advancement policies. At least we still got Petro.

  • BlazerNationPDX

@Brian Absolutely, come back to Portland where you are loved. Bring Deron with with you.
