Highest TV Ratings Since 2004 for Game 2 of the NBA Finals

Superstars galore. Two great, young and hungry teams. A pretty even matchup. It’s not exactly a big surprise that these NBA Finals are breaking television ratings records. Per the AP: “The NBA Finals’ Game 2 drew the highest preliminary television rating since 2004. The Miami Heat’s 100-96 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday night on ABC earned an 11.8 overnight rating. The network said Friday that was up 12 percent from last year’s series between the Heat and Dallas Mavericks. Game 2 of the 2004 finals between the Detroit Pistons and Los Angeles Lakers drew a 12.3 overnight rating.”

    2008 Finals were WAY better.

@EDDIE for history wise maybe but this is the best scoring ive seen in a while

2008 Finals sucked… they were basically one-sided. Celtics thrashed the Lakers. Their 2010 series was much better. This has the potential to be the best NBA Finals series since 1993.

It’s only two games in. At least wait until it’s over before you deem it the worst or greatest.

This is the best Finals since `69 when Honda cupped Bill Russell’s balls in his mouth.

I get the feeling that they write this same article after every game, year after year…

2008 finals had a huge comeback game from the celtics in game 3, paul pierce’s dramatic comeback from a supposed season ending injury, restored the celtics lakers rivalry, pierce vs. kobe in their primes, KG and Ray Allen also make it to the finals, amazing stuff all around. 2012 is boring. Celtics Heat was a more compelling series. Truly yours, Eddie from Seattle.
