Kobe Bryant Has the Highest Selling NBA Jersey Internationally

The only NBA title won by Kobe Bryant this season, is by way of international jersey sales. The Lakers’ team website has the details: “The National Basketball Association (NBA) today released its first-ever overall international top selling jerseys list and five-time NBA Champion Kobe Bryant has the most popular NBA jersey internationally. The top 15 list was based on sales at adidas locations outside the United States during the 2011-12 NBA season. Chicago’s Derrick Rose, Miami’s LeBron James, Boston’s Kevin Garnett and Orlando’s Dwight Howard, round out the top five. [...] The NBA also announced the top five selling jerseys in key regions: China, Europe and Latin America. In China, Bryant has the top selling jersey for the sixth straight season while Rose moves up to No. 2. Bryant had the top selling jersey in Europe and Latin America this season.”

    Surprised to see KG so high on this list. Good to see people still recognize him as a great player.

    And what percentage of jerseys are sold at adidas locations? I’m guessing not a lot

    @Redd: moron
    @Bt: in germany, the country of adidas a relatively high number of nba jerseys are being sold and i think even here bryants jersey is no 1. when u go out n play on the blacktop youll allways see at least one kid with a bryant jersey.

    It seems that the international jersey sales lag about 2-3 years behind the US trends. Not an insult or jab, just an observation. Given that, I think Bron’s jersey will spike next year, and if OKC does go through with the jersey change (like some rumors have thrown out), we can expect to see Durant hit #1 in the US market.

    Cool to hear Caboose those OKC colors need to grow up

    Rondo at no. 7 and no. 5 in China surprised me – the international players don’t; I can guess who is top of Spain, France and Germany’s lists.

    I think this has a lot to do with availability. In the UK, there’s little or no choice, just a couple dozen jerseys on a rack. I still see Denver Carmelo and LeBron Cavs jerseys in shops. There’s always a Bryant, Howard, Garnett, James selection though, every time.

    I see Hornets Paul jerseys everywhere still in england. I was actually so shocked i saw a rondo jersy the other day i took a photo! My favourite player is Garnett (jersey owned) but the moment he joined the celts Pierce jerseys disappeared into the abyss of second best player on the team.

    100% agree with AdamS (above me).
    @Redd – you sir, are a moron. I’m not sure if you realise the gravity of the foolishness of your statement.
