Miami Heat Top Boston Celtics in Game 7, Headed to NBA Finals

This Tuesday night. Miami Heat. Oklahoma City Thunder. You won’t want to miss this. But beforehand, do remember how the Heat got there—with an incredibly impressive victory over the feisty Boston Celtics. Here’s Yahoo! Sports on the Game 7 recap: “LeBron James finally got a Game 7 victory, on his third try. Next up, the NBA finals – and his third try at that elusive first championship. A year after watching someone else celebrate on their home floor, the Miami Heat were the ones dancing at midcourt. James had 31 points and 12 rebounds, Chris Bosh hit a career-best three 3-pointers – the last sparking the run that put it away – and the Heat won their second straight Eastern Conference title by beating the Boston Celtics 101-88 in Game 7 on Saturday night. Miami opens the title series in Oklahoma City on Tuesday night. The Heat got there by outscoring Boston 28-15 in the fourth quarter, with the ‘Big Three’ of Dwyane Wade, Bosh and James scoring every Miami point. ‘We decided to come together and play together for a reason,’ Wade said. Wade scored 23 points, Bosh finished with 19 and Shane Battier added 12 for the Heat, who won a Game 7 for the first time since 2004 – Wade’s rookie season. Now it’s back to the finals, where Miami fell in six games to Dallas a year ago.”

Ever since Kevin Durant’s draft night I have been saying that KD is the new Jordan and Lebron James is the new Dominique Wilkins. Lebron might be a human highlight reel, but Kevin Durant is a born champion. Lebron will feel like he has to be a superstar and choke. Wade will lose trust and try to do too much. Perkins will twist Chris Bosh’s lizard paw behind his back until he cries.

  • Matisse

^ Hasn’t ever seen Dominique Wilkins play or Lebron James for that matter.

wade needs to play much better for the heat to have a chance, he dissapears for the longest stretches lately

  • rayray

Thunder in 5. Think about it – the celtics are a much worse team than the spurs, and it took the heat until late in the 4th of game 7 to put them away….think about what the Thunder will do to them.

  • L

Will the LeBron VS KD rivalry be our 2.0 Magic and Bird? L

  • DS44

Still trying to crown LeBron like he’s a damn prom queen,Thunder in 6.

  • j nuggz

did anyone else see lebron try to kick rondo on the last play of the first half? he was hanging on the rim and rondo was under him an rondo walked out of bounds then bron fully extended his leg to kick him. if you have it on your dvr watch it, i think it was clearly intentional, yet it wasnt even called by the refs or mentioned by the commentators, but if it was anyone else they would have been ejected or at least t’d up. just another case of the leagues golden god getting away with more than everyone else. im not good w computers, so i dont know how to post a link, but heres the you tube page: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPBRYdUbUlk watch it for yourself

  • j nuggz

Staying out of making predictions on this one. Just going to sit back and enjoy what looks to be a great Finals.

  • Heals

So for all the criticism, the dissection of players’ games, the questions of compatibility and chemistry, the doubts about their coach, the endless analysis, the breakdowns of every last second possession, the enmity for their offseason introduction, the hatred of everything “Decision” related, for all of it Mia is in their 2nd NBA Finals in 2 years together. In other words Uck the all outside noise and just enjoy how these guys hoop…

  • barnabusb

@Heals: I hear what you’re saying, but the problem is that their hoop is hard to enjoy. When they got together, I was hoping for Dream Team style ball movement and highlight plays. Instead, we get ISOs, whining about fouls, free throws courtesy of whining about fouls, and more ISOs. Their brand of basketball is horrible to watch, save for the odd LeBron dunk or Wade circus shot.

  • Da-REAL-Meat-Hook

Co-sign Heals. Celtics fan, and a true fan of basketball. Respect.

  • http://www.sportsgrid.com/media/shaq-kobe-highlights/ shutup

Gonna be very enetertaining. Were gonna have a new Champion this year, will it be Durant? or Lebron?

  • Heals

I hear ya barna those are valid grips about their style of play, but I was going more big picture with what the team has accomplished and how well LBJ has played individually to be specific…

  • Dejjy

Durant will never ever be better than LeBron. Shooting wise and clutchness yes, but not in terms of blocking and defense, putback dunks and rebounds, acrobatic lay ups, buzzer beaters and crazy no look passes. Although I do give respect to Durant for his patience, poise, and positive attitude, he’s never ever going to be hated as much as LeBron and for LeBron to even play like this is amazing considering every day he is blasted by the media. That takes a lot of will. While Durant is constantly being pampered like a baby.

  • MeloMan15

    Heat in 5

  • http://www.yahoo,com berkamore

The Heat beat the Celts because they were younger, plain and simple. However, the Heat won’t have that advantage over the Thunder. I mean, LeBron will have to have a monster series. Why? because the Thunder can stop Wade (Sefolosha is quick, strong and younger) AND Bosh (Ibaka and Perkins will take care of Mister Bosh). On the other hand, who is gonna stop Westbrook, Harden and Durant? Hell, who is gonna stop even Ibaka? King James can only guard one guy. Thunder in six and it may not even be that close. LOL.

  • Wet

I see this series being a lot like the heat/celtics series.
Where either team could wrap it up in 5 or 6. I predict a few 1 point/overtime games

  • money man

heat are underdogs here due to homecourt advantage but if the big 3 play with that much sense of urgency – thunder could be in a dogfight.

  • AQWORD

Was this written by a Celtics fan? Well done Heat.

  • AQWORD

^^^^ cosign Heals by the way ^^^^

  • Rik Smits Mullet

    cosign heals

look OKC has the healthier deeper squad
but i think the thunder having home court could be better for the heat.
This might sound strange. But in my opinion/observation the heat play better when they are precieved as the underdogs. Because of the 2-3-2 format it will be less presure on the heat to win the first game. If they cause a split they have more change to win the next few games at home. still the ultimate X factor is LEBRON if he plays like he is doing throughout the playoffs this far. And not doing any disapearing act.Heat have a strong chance to win.

But iam just an optimistic Lebron fan. And think its his time.
    Lets go HEAT

  • vtrobot

Congratulations and respect to the Heat. What a great series. Hope the next one will be as well. Thunder in 6.

  • BostonBaller

CONGRATS to the Heat, great series! No predictions for The Finals on my part. I will sit back and enjoy the show and hope it goes to 7 games. I LOVE 7 game series…Bosh…..Bosh…..Bosh…Bo

  • DOYOUWANTMORE

@Matisse – I didn’t say that Lebron plays exactly like Dominique or that KD is another Jordan, just that they are going to play the same respective roles in the league those guys played. Before Jordan was drafted Dominique was the hyped-up human highlight reel being crowned by sports journalists as the King of the league prematurely. Then Jordan came along and everyone knew he would be good, but no one really knew what kind of force of will he had. I think Kevin Durant has the force of will and ice-water in his veins that Jordan had. Lebron has more physical talents, but then so did Dominique Wilkins. I know it sounds flaky or whatever but I see something in Durant’s character that just isn’t there in Lebron’s.

  • Dizzy

the series will be good but i think okc has the edge, they have better bigs and have home court advantage… we all know how they feed off that energy from the fans, i feel that the energy arena would be one of the harder places to play at as a away team

  • Da-REAL-Meat-Hook

Whether or not you like a guy’s character shouldn’t affect your reasoning. You are saying that Durant will develop into a better passer and defender than Lebron? Jordan did both of those things better than Wilkins, who was basically just an athletic scorer. You are suggesting the only advantage Lebron has over Durant is being physically gifted and you’re just flat wrong. Perception and facts aren’t the same. Lebron basically leads in fourth quarter scoring. He’s pretty damn efficient. Being perceived as having “ice water veins” really doesn’t add to the argument of who will turn out the better player if it isn’t manifested on the court. Lebron has been the best player this season and post season. The fact that Durant is more likable tends to have people ignore basketball fact. How is Lebron crowned prematurely like Wilkins if he’s been the best player for the past five seasons?

  • http://slamonline.com Mars

There are gonna be blackouts because of the NBA Finals. Highest ratings ever. Let the dynasty battles begin between King James and Lord Durant.

  • Bola

People saying Durant can’t defend, can’t block. I got one world for y’all. BOSS. cuz that’s what my boy being doing since he came to the league. With all of lebron’s defence Durant still schooled him in the drew league. What happened when OKC played heat in their Arena? Durant was dropping threes on lEBRON’S HEAD. granted Heat beat Okc at home, but look at last season when OKC whooped their ass. Duranchula was on beastmode. I laugh when lebron fans keep sucking his balls and deny any other player. Sure i like Lebron but imma tell you this. KD is coming and he’s only 23. For a boy who thought he couldn’t play in the NBA and didn’t get much hype that Lebron got before he got to the NBA. he’d doing well for himself.

  • Da-REAL-Meat-Hook

LOL @ a summer league game proving anything. By those standards John Wall is the best pg in the league. Durant having a great game against Lebron doesn’t change the fact that Lebron is the better defender. It doesn’t change or affect that fact AT ALL. It just solidifies that Durant is so offensively talented that he’s one of those guys that can’t really be stopped. Lebron had impressive games over him too. Still doesn’t affect who the better defender is. Stating obvious strengths that Lebron has over Durant isn’t “denying” anything. It’s a fact that he’s a better passer and defender. Durant is 23 and will improve those areas every year, but right now Lebron is the better player.

  • MeRcMoBb26

^^Lol @ the South Park reference. This is about to be a ridiculous Finals. They are gonna hype it like a good vs. evil, small market vs. large market, drafted team vs. manufactured team series. Ratings will be through the roof. Stern is rubbing his manipulative little hands together…
