NY Knicks Reportedly Interested in Ray Allen, Jason Terry and OJ Mayo

Knicks’ players Jeremy Lin and Steve Novak recently won an arbitration case that’ll allow them to be re-signed this offseason with no effect on the team’s salary cap, and so New York will maintain its full mid-level exception to give to…somebody. The NY Daily News reports that Jason Terry, OJ Mayo and Ray Allen are just a few names the Knicks are tossing around: “Jason Terry, O.J. Mayo and Ray Allen top the Knicks’ free-agent wish list for shooting guards. Allen wants a big offer, of course, but he’ll also favor the team that shows him the most love when it comes knocking on his door on July 1. Looks like the Knicks, who don’t have a lot of money to offer Allen, will have to out wine-and-dine the Bulls and Heat.”

The bucks will take New Yorks playoff spot next year

Bulls fans are more obnoxious. People just pay more attention to whatever KY sports fans say and think, through no fault of our own. It’s hard to tell people to get over themselves when you are more worried about what they say and think than they are. That’s pretty funny. The Nets will take over NY like the Mets will surpass the Yankees popularity. I’d use your city’s sports team as an analogy but like most other NYers, I don’t care to even know about fan dynamics in other cities lol.

^ stop lying charlie. NY’ers dont think, they just punch (sharp glass objects)

  • Heals

^^^Exactly I’ve never seen a Bulls fans say a thing about the Knicks, it was Bos for a couple years, now Mia, never NY. Funny how none of you Knicks “fans” had any comments for the Frazier interview the other day. Any of you have his book, Bradley’s? That’s the thing with some modern day Knicks fans, ya’ll are soooo consumed with tomorrow that you don’t remember yesterday (figuratively speaking)…

    ^^^@Redd…

^^I’m sure your expert opinion on Knick fans, after having lived around so many of them for so long, is rooted in experience other than SLAMonline.com…NOT!

  • Stevethecannon

    @ black phantom
That trade proposal was hopefully a joke. If not then ur a retart. And the knicks are gonna have a bomb squad next year, yall just wait.

    OJ SIMPSON HAS AMAZING POTENTIAL!!!!

  • http://www.lebronjames.com/ Big Game James Midrange Troll Attack

^cosign. One of the most underrated murderers of all time. Keep him away from your teams cheerleaders and sports memorabilia and he would kill the entire league (excluding LeBron and the 2012 World Champion Miami Heat)

  • Ash

I agree with TRay all they need is a year to jel together. They weren’t that bad last year. Out of those 3 players I would think Jason Terry would sign. OJ Mayo would want more $$ and Ray Allen as well in addition to a ring.

  • l2ising Phoenix

Fans are fans and should be viewed as individuals not as a whole. We all have different views/opinions when it comes to our beloved teams, so by posting something like “all Knicks fans suck and are obnoxious” is really immature @red, same goes for anyone who bashes any fanbase. Grow up.

Ray Allen to the Raptors, has a vintage season and makes All-NBA Second Team. Y’all heard it here first.

^ so next year at age 36 Jesus will have a better season than Joe Johnson, Monta Ellis, Manu Ginobli, D Wade, James Harden, Russell Westbrook, and Harrison Barnes? I think not

  • http://cnbc.com JTaylor21

Caboose, why would Ray at this point in his career go to a team that has no chance of making the playoffs/competiting for a championship over taking less money and going to a team like CHI or MIA? You have to remember this is the same cat that took a 8 million pay-cut just to resign with Bos after the 09-10 season.

  • http://Roosterteeth.com Caboose

JT, not the real me. That’s so idiotic. Ray is gonna go wherever there’s a chance for a ring. Meaning, I’d guess Chicago.

  • markorsomething

@Charlie, Knicks have definitely spitting out there championship nonsense for a long while now. What a lot of us do is preemptively strike, to stop all you idiots from commenting–cus we know it’s gonna happen

  • markorsomething

Even when they were healthy, the Knicks sucked big balls. Y’all always come up with excuses. “They were too many injuries”, “our coach sucked”, “we’re prepin for next year”, “the fire extinguishers hurt to punch”

  • MUBWAR

to all the knicks fans defending their team on this article today I got some to say. YOU DROPPED CONFETTI AFTER WINNING A SINGLE PLAYOFF GAME IN THE PAST DECADE

  • jinolin

I don’t get this Melo is the problem, trade him for peanuts talk… he has committed to the defensive end under Woodson (hes no LeBron, but he is better then Durant- the finals?) Chandler plays well with him so dose Novak and JR, what they should do is make a move while Amare still has some value, get some defense and wingspan, make Melo/JR the focal points (starter/6th man) and add a shooter for the min., this should work out, granted they still couldn’t beat a 3 headed Miami team (they could challenge them without a Bosh or a Wade), but I think they could be a top 3 team in the east if these changes are executed.

Just like normal C’s fans and Lakers fans have to take extra shht because of their “louder,” more obnoxious brethren so to do Heat, Knick and son on fans. If you’re not one of the loudnoxious ones don’t sweat it…

  • Eddie LOmax

Unfortunately for Knicks fans STAT’s contract makes him UNTRADEABLE, that being said I believe david Khan is still in charge of the T-Wolves.. However for the Knicks to have any chance of moving forward then STAT has to go, or change his game completely to be OK with averaging 15-10 and allowing Melo to be the focal point.. Landry Fields would be an asset to a contender, coming of the bench with hussle plays. He’d thrive somewhere like Boston, Spurs and possibly even Miami. I’d LOVE for Ray Ray to wrap up his career in South Beach, coz I reckon Mike “7-8″ Miller and possibly James Jones will retire before next season and the Finals proved that the Heat NEED shooters to spread the floor and take advantage of Bron’s passing out of double teams.

  • http://www.lebronjames.com/ Big Game James Midrange Troll Attack

Obnoxious? Then why does everyone enjoy wearing things with our team logo? Don’t see Knicks gear often(minus Lin). Nonetheless Knicks fans are annoying & always just talk.

  • http://www.nba.com Shadojoker

@red I’m with you man..forget these haters..ray ray is coming to Chi-town along with someone else and him and a healthy Rip will work the high and low screen and roll like no other!! Amnesty Boozer too..sry but Let Taj get more minutes..

^^^NOT THE REAL BGJMTA…ive been trolled, now i know the feeling Caboose

  • http://blackamericaweb.com charliewinning

Um markwhateveryournameis, if you have to let out a preemptive response it’s safe to say you care too much. If you care so much about what fans of a team feel about the team then you are officially a lame. It’s not Knick fans’ fault your quiet, half empty arenas are that way no matter your team’s records.

  • O

Let’s be real, Carmelo CAN be great, but won’t be. He’s proven that he can play D AND make some dope passes, but son wants to win a f*cking scoring title instead of a NBA title. Defenses collapse on him and instead of looking for the open man – like LeBron – he forces up bad shots. Stat – I love you for taking on the challenge that is New York – is washed up. He’s a pick-n-roll player who constantly gets stripped of the ball and/or gets blocked at the basket. Chandler is the man. He does what he’s supposed to. Cased closed on him. And as much flack as Dolan gets, he’s an owner who isn’t scuurrred to spend. Yes, he wants Isiah to Chris Bosh facial him and he’ll blow that paper to get it, but he makes theeee worst decisions. I love my Knicks to death, but we ain’t taking home a chip till Melo takes the glue off his hands, Stat comes off the bench (or gets traded), and the Knicks front office STOPS throwing they ass at famous names like a Kardashian or Travolta…

  • PickNY

I see a lot of NY hate ration going on tells me a bunch of them was shaking in their boots when our team was rolling before the injury bug took a toll on this team! No need to make any excuses cause injuries is a part of sports! However, you all will not admit YOU WERE SCARED! Why? I hear it in your comments! What I hear? Fear! Ha

  • l2ising Phoenix

    Lmao good point @O

  • http://www.lebronjames.com/ Big Game James Midrange Troll Attack

^^^if the knicks were serious about contending they would trade melo for Josh Howard, stat should be passing out gatorade (unless they get nash), and chandler could use a post move

  • http://www.slamonline.com Redd

The knicks need to build around Lin.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Redd

I apologize BGJ that was me, I didn’t notice it, my bad man. Plain & simple, Knicks fans in general are obnoxious. If they were at least a #2 seed I’d get it, but an 8th seed?! And the Bulls may get Ray cause of Thibs but I want B. Roy.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Redd

The “build around Lin” isn’t me. But @Shado, I don’t think amnestying will help out cap room. Idk y, but it’s what continues to be said. Won’t front like I know.

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

Or the Knicks can only afford to pay one guy $3M as their “luxury mid-level exception” – so uhm, maybe Jason Terry? oJ Mayo is impossibly out of the question. And I just can’t see Ray Allen leaving Boston for $3M a year in New York. More likely he signs in Chicago or another real contender. Unless he wants a little more money and signs with like Houston or Orlando.

  • http://cnbc.com JTaylor21

These trolls have ruined a good thing.
Gone are the days of coming onto Slamonline to have a real conversation with knowledgeable basketball fans.

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

1:51 is a troll. The real nbk says: if they get these players then the starters would likely be Lin at PG. Ray Allen SG. Melo and Amare forwards. With Chandler at center. Then Mayo Sixth man, Terry seventh, and Fields eighth. This might work with a training camp, but all these players need the ball in their hands. With the exception being Lin. This would be the best team in the NBA on paper but I don’t think it will work.

  • http://www.facebook.com/joe.l.brewer3 Black Phantom

@nbk That’s what folks said about the Heat. Look what happened.

  • http://www.slamonline.com danfields

they cant sign allen mayo and terry under their cap. they are going for just one of these three. if they get one of this three, sign kidd or nash as a lin backupt theyd be a contender straight away after a whole training camp and if major injuries spare them this year.

  • http://www.slamonline.com danfields

stern just appealed to the lin / novak decision which will delay the knicks ability to negotiate with free agents. i wonder if this is a long term business decision or if hes just scared that his new trademark in the east could be threatened (heatlers) by a team he does not want to see successfull

  • ctk

Knicks did a better job of guarding the Heat than OKC did ….Melo is harder to guard for Bron than KD is …the Knicks is closer than yall givin credit

  • Mas

If the keep both Amare and Melo the team should similar to that of last season. Keep Lin, Novak and Smith as a second unit. Start Tyson-Melo-Amare-Shump (when ready) and a free agent PG (Nash). See if you can get a few lower second round picks for either Douglas or Fields. They would have a Top Defender and Top Scorer and firepower on a deep bench with some youth. Not good enough to beat the Heat but at least it gives them a shot. So Nash or bust.

  • http://slamonline.com Datkid

man… these trolls… also no. None of the people mentioned in the article would willingly want to come to NY. all of them want to go to the heat, except OJ mayo. and Amare and chandler literally can’t play together because of the spacing issues they raise. Melo should be put at the 4(because that’s when he’s best offensively and defensively) and should be the focal point of the offense.. but idk how much you can win playing like that.

  • http://blackamericaweb.com charliewinning

As much as I’ve never wanted Melo as a Knick, the trade that would’ve made the most sense was STAT/Chandler for Dwight/Hedo. Play Melo at the 4 or have Hedo come off the bench. I don’t care for any of these older, no defense playing vets as they pertain to the Knicks. We can’t afford Mayo, and management is already about to overpay for Lin now that he’s won his Bird rights. I hate this roster but I suppose a full season together healthy will do a lot better than last season.

  • BostonBaller

Don’t leave us Ray!! Scenario: If Melo signed with, let’s say, OKC and they won a chip with him playing well during the playoffs…that would stop the presses and some of you would anoint him top 20 or higher of all time. What I’m saying is, winning cures a heck of a lot and shuts the negative talking down. Enjoy these players and their talents regardless of your loyalties. I’m Green through and through but I enjoy watching the vast talent in the L. I comment on things too but why get nasty.

  • clydesays

Anyone signing with the Knicks is doing it for the dollars & spotlight. That team will never win a chip with Dolan pulling the strings. He pushed out his ONE decent coach and ONE capable GM. Until Dolan hires competent people & let’s them do their jobs, don’t see how they put together a cohesive team, ever.

  • http://www.twitter.com/hurstysyd Hursty

I don’t understand why the Boston big 3 all just resign for 4-5M less each, leaving Boston with cap space to sign their other RFA/FA’s and one of the afore-mentioned players? Mayo, Terry etc.

  • http://Idk Heat0212

    Lemme Guess:
Knicks swept by Boston 4-0 1st Round 2010-11
Knicks lost to Miami 4-1 1st Round 2011-12
Im predicting this upcoming 2012-13 season Knicks will prob lose 4-2 against Chicago in the first round as USUAL….hahahahahahahaha

  • R32

Boston knows they’re clock is up. Destroy and Rebuild around Rondo

  • Ldub

Bulls vs Heat. Id chose the Heat. Playing with Bosh, James and Wade is head and shoulders better than playing with DRose, Boozer and Noah. If you replace (not saying get rid of)…but replace Mike Miller with Ray Allen through the playoffs. How many of the missed 3s would have gone in? (not including game 5). Plus…even with D-Rose coming back off the injury…I dont see the Bulls taking out the Heat….and even if they add Ray…I dont see that happening. With his age being upper 30′s…Ray should join the Heat. Better chance of winning.
