Report: Bulls Expected to Part Ways With CJ Watson


The Bulls are heading into a tumultuous offseason, and the pendulum may be swinging in CJ Watson’s direction. The San Francisco Chronicle is reporting that Watson and his $3.7 million contract are on the way out: “Two things overheard in the NBA pre-draft combine lobby that might interest Warriors fans: 1. Chicago is not expected to pick up the $3.7 million option on point guard C.J. Watson; 2. Swingman Josh Howard would love to play for the Warriors.”

    I thought Watson was solid for the Bulls this year. Interesting move to not pick up the option on your back-up PG when ur starting PG is in rehab.

    JLIII had some good moments, but I don’t know if he’s a full time solution.

    That 3.7 mil. is a pretty cheap price for who turned our to be one of the better backup pgs in the L.
    Don’t know how they can upgrade for less. A SOLID backup pg is a MUST, so Dross can ease back in at his own pace.

    @GP23 there is no way Nash will go to the Bulls to start for half a year and then ride the pine when DRose is back. Nash will either end up with the LAL or sign with the Heat. There is still a chance he returns to PHO. Whoever gets Watson will get a solid pg off the pine who will provide a spark to the second unit.

    Can’t decide if CJ playing really well for long stretches of the year was the real CJ, or if they CJ whose jumper was broke for a solid month and made terrible decisions in the playoffs was the real CJ. I know he was playing hurt, but still. The Bulls need a legit backup PG, and all I know is that JLIII is NOT the answer. His runners and 3′s against the Heat may look cute in the regular season and make for a good story, but his incessant ball pounding late into the shot clock and complete lack of court vision make for a pretty bad story when the games count, aka the playoffs.

    Rose won’t be back next year, he’s hurt…his rehab is 10 months-12 months..do some math…Bulls out of playoff contention, or have no reason to rush him back by then…We will pick up Watson’s option, we have no choice. Unless we draft a great PG AT THE 29 spot…
