Report: Bulls May Move Luol Deng or Joakim Noah For a Pick and Exception

The Chicago Bulls have some tough decisions to make this summer—they’d like to give new deals to a couple of role players, including Omer Asik and Taj GIbson, but likely won’t be able to do so without moving one of their already-salaried guys. Well according to a small nugget in the NY Daily News, there are two guys on their roster (and starters at that) that they’re willing to trade, with the hopes of receiving a pick and a trade exception that’ll afford them the cap space to re-sign some talent in return: “The Bulls want to give Omer Asik and Taj Gibson new deals, so they’re exploring ways to trade Luol Deng and/or Joakim Noah to teams that can send them a trade exception and a No. 1 pick.”

    Deng to Raptors???

  • http://www.slamonline.com Avril Lavigne

Howard to the bulls, book it!!

  • Brahsef

I just don’t understand why they’re doing this. If I had those players they’d be untouchable unless for a superstar trade.

  • Brotha Earth

    Amnesty Boozer….You’re welcome

  • Patrick Bayard

Trading Luol Deng or Joakim Noah for a “pick” is counterproductive. The Bulls can do better and they should. Creative thinking, and maximizing the value of their current assets makes far more sense in the short term and in the long term. The way to do it is through trades and key free agent signings. Here is a great scenario that would solve all of the Bulls issues…

why get rid of deng or noah in order to accomodate asik or gibson?

  • SouthK

rose will be out for a season. so draft some bigs for the picks they will recieve and develop em til rose comes back. and i really thing asik can replace noah. if chance presents it self.

  • bravo

im from tdot and i would love to have deng or noah

  • Stephan

NOOOOO NOT NOAH! He’s the soul of the team smh Deng ok lol

  • http://www.thesmashbrothas.com zen garden

they are not going to trade noah

  • Sajjad

I think that they are trying to free up some cap space to try and get Dwight in free agency they get rid of Noah now for a draft pick which they’ll use to land a power forward and play him beside boozer until next year when they amnesty boozer and sign Dwight

  • JayBee

I think they should trade boozer,He plays no defense, and doesn’t have a low post game. Noah, Deng and Rose are the Bulls

  • http://www.fb.com Reedo

Cosign With Brutha Earth Boozer hasnt been a factor at all since hes been there… Noah is your anchor down low and Deng is the best defender at the small forward position in the league.. he gives LBJ problems and thats who your going to need to stop to come out the East. they show sign Asik and let Gibson walk. Gibson can be replaced.

Not to mention CJ Watson isnt coming back if they dont keep Deng and Noah I can see this being the end of the bulls short reign at the top.

    Deng to Sacto for #5?

  • http://slamonline.com Krishan

Did chicago just quit before the off season officially start? This is going to sit sooo well with the fans.

  • http://grantland.com StuBaby

Noah to the Hawks for the 23rd pick and Zaza. Reunite the Gator bigs Atlanta!

  • LA Huey

Rose is really young and going to take about 2 years to return to form. Maybe they realize they can’t beat Miami as currently constructed and going to take a step back and try to develop some young talent.

  • http://www.dimemag.com showtime

If they do so ,you can just pencil in the Heat in the final for the next 2 years..with these type of actions..

  • jose

Why not trade Deng and Boozer in a package deal? maybe J-smoove,Hinrich and another piece?

  • PnoyVibe

    Howard to Bulls!

  • hatersrfunny

Wow they should keep Noah and move Deng and Hamilton or possibly korver for a second option player yes boozer shoulda packed it up a while ago

  • http://www.soumdcloud.com/tray-5 T-Ray

This move wouldn’t make any sense unless Dwight and Turk were coming. Why give away your best wing defender and post defender who is also the heart and soil of the team? If anything they need a 2 guard who can stay injury free long enough to make a difference. I strongly suggest they look at JT. Come to think of it if they ship Deng they might go after GWallace.

  • ratguts

Everyone is saying “trade Boozer”, but who is going to take him?

  • RunNGun

To the Knicks… make it happen, Dolan!

  • Miggy

Thank you ratguts. I agree. It’s risky but the Bulls can’t just be content being around the top of the NBA.

  • http://cnbc.com JTaylor21

It looks like the bulls are already giving up on next season.
Why are they willing to trade either Deng or Noah (the heart of the team) just to accomodate Omar Asik?
How bout amnesty Boooozer, resign/start Gibson.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Redd

Cause apparently Amnestying Boozer won’t help.@JT. Luol Deng just admitted he thinks he’ll be traded..

  • http://blackamericaweb.com charliewinning

The Bulls can expect the same playoff result for the next couple of seasons. They’re in rebuilding mode. At least management, unlike their fans, realized that they weren’t going to beat Miami with the roster they had. Not even with Rose healthy.

  • Mike GIlbert

Deng and Watson for Rudy Gay….the salaries matchup…and it makes both teams better…the Grizzlies need someone to stretch the floor more for Gasol and Randolph…having Deng makes them better defensivley(obviously) but not only stretches the floor, it also gives Gasol and Randolph more touches (Deng isnt a ball stopper like Gay.) The Grizzlies can finally find an identity and would be a VERY good defensive team that rebounds great and pounds the ball inside. As for the Bulls, they would obviously become better offensively with Gay, Gay and Rose together is similar to Durant and Westbrook. People will say you can’t lose Deng though because he is such a fantastic defender. First off, Gay is not a bad defender. He is not on the level of DEng but he is no where near a liability. Second, the Bulls defense is so good anyway with Thibs as coach it does not hurt much. Tell me what you think, I think this could be great for both teams!

  • ron wealsy

@JayBee You aint gonna get nothing for Boozer though lol

  • Dirty sixer

@ron wealsy You aint gonna get nothing… So you’re gonna get something?

Is that you in disguise Russell Westbrook

  • http://www.triplejunearthed.com/dacre Dacre

ahahaha… this whole article is a troll.

  • http://slamonline.com samoaninlondon

please please please trade boozer – he does nothing and is feeble when the rpessure is on… i could see that he isnt worth much to toher team though hence they can’t really move him out for anything good…

  • Wixurrs

Deng to the Hornets for #10 and Exception.
-Hornets have tons of cap room
    -just traded their SF

  • LP

They will trade NOAH for the right situation..I mean, a solid player + a lottery pick is what they are looking for. My Bulls wont just throw NOAH away…Now, Deng, we just looking for a draft pick…I love him, but we really need a dynamic second (maybe first) scorer…Some athleticism…etc etc

  • jp

Lol premature trade rumors really helped the lakers this season. Deng and Gibson for Lewis and Picks #5 and #32. Wizards get rid of that god awful contract and get 2 solid players. Beal would fit into Chicago like a glove.
