Rockets Trade Chase Budinger To Timberwolves

The Rockets have traded forward Chase Budinger to the Timberwolves in exchange for the 18th overall pick in Thursday’s draft, according to Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Houston now owns picks 14, 16 and 18 in the first round, while Minnesota adds some much needed depth on the wing.

The Rockets are having quite the fire sale right now. I hear Kevin Martni and Kyle Lowry can be had..

  • http://redoftoothandclaw.ca/ niQ

    *Martin.

  • Mike Gilbert

Yea the Rockets seriously have a ton of assets…I wonder if they would be able to get a star with them

  • Emmanuel

The Rocket are looking for big additions

  • Patrick

    Rubio, Ridnour, Budinger, Love, Pek

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • R32

He got traded because of his reaction to the Gerald Green windmill alley-oop!

I can’t see them starting Rubio AND Ridnour for much longer, and I don’t see Budinger starting either really

  • Jer dawg

    ^Patrick
You are right on with that assessement. The crazy part is that he IS going to be their 2nd athlete out there next to Derrick Williams. I think Rockets didn’t utilize him well enough.
This most likely means Mike Beasley is outta there. Makes too much money and unproductive.

The timberwolves are angling for an imposing whitewash

Just thinking about this, I don’t understand why the T-Wolves would have accepted this trade…Now they’re stacked at the SF with Wes Johnson, Chase Budinger, Derrick Williams and partly Beasley with still no true shooting guard. They should’ve just drafted Will Barton, Doron Lamb or John Jenkins.

@niQ, is a SG on that team really necessary? At some point they will address that issue but look at what the Heat just did. They made that series into a matchup problem. Move Love to the Center spot (part-time) to either draw a shot blocker out of the lane, or force the other team to go small as well. If both teams are playing small ball, you’d want Rubio to push the tempo and now you have 3 athletic wings for him to run with and a trailing Love. Of course this assumes they can individually play well enough defense to stay in a small lineup. Rubio-3 SFs-Love could be an effective line up.

I think Patrick was just pointing out the possibility of a somewhat competitive all White starting 5. Something unseen in the nba since… hell, before I was born.

@dfrance21 that would be awesome actually lol. As a black person I would push to see an all-white starting 5

I’m not sure about this trade, someone who has watched this guy please tell me he is good enough to trade the 18th pick overall for him?

I was hoping the Wolves would get Royce White (Minnesota kid)

  • LA Huey

They’re going to match the Heat’s “White Hot” tagline with “White Out”

Again, I have no idea why the Rockets have apparently chosen Goran Dragic over Kyle Lowry. Wtf??? Anyways, Dragic will be a great starter but still–Lowry is the heart and soul of that team.

  • Dirk Nowitzki’s Mane

@ teddy some rumors say Kyle Lowry doesnt want to be coached by McHale.

Honestly, decent pick up. Budinger is a solid player. I’m a little out of the box in my basketball assessment at times, call me Nellie, but you could easily run Bud, Wes Johnson, Wayne Ellington, at the 2 spot. So what, you get burned by the 5 shooting guards a year. Your bigger at every position that way. Rubio 6’4, Bud 6’7, Williams 6’8″, Love 6’10″, Pek 6’11″. That’s a lineup right there. Or if need be, just go small and run JJ Barea at the 2 spot with Ridinour reserving for both spots.

LakeShow, I’m a big fan of putting odd lineups out on the floor. If you got the right athletes and chemistry on the floor, you can still compete.

Cosign Huey and Lake. Sometimes an unconventional line up is the best. Look at the finals Battier playing the 4 and Bosh at the 5 proved to be very dangerous and impossible to handle.

Agreed Huey. I was always pining for Phil Jackson to put Odom in as SF with Pau and Bynum… He never did. He was probably right, but I just love switching it up like that. I don’t even mind a guard playing SF sometimes. Mismatches make basketball more exciting.

Cant play the 2…dumb trade…he prolly the replacement for Beasley

  • hmm

Good, now the wolves need to get rid of Derrick Williams. Lazy, unproductive, loud mouth that only cares about his paycheck. Its crazy how fast college players change when they come to the nba. Adelman dislikes beasley, randolph, and webster but would still play them in favor of Williams. Kahn needs to realize that the Adelman and Williams pairing is going to end badly for everyone.

rubio, ridnour, budinger, love, pek. with jj barea, darko and brad miller off the bench. i’m rooting for this 8-man rotation.

  • startown

Brad Miller retired and Darko is probably history?

Maybe we can pick up some more white guys, how about Tyler Hansbrough

  • http://Google Shano From The Wickid

Brad miller retired god rest his soul

  • Wayno

LakeShow, my favorite part of pick-up ball is when the smalls group up and try to outsmart the bigs.

  • http://www.triplejunearthed.com/dacre Dacre

@ wayno…and you know they are in that huddle saying… just shoot the ball quicker….

  • http://www.triplejunearthed.com/dacre Dacre

    …actually thats usually the huddle i’m in… : /

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

@ Shano: I’m pretty sure Brad Miller is retired and not dead… But I’ll double check and get back to you.
