The Miami Heat are Your 2012 NBA Champions

Congrats to the Miami Heat, who deservedly won the 2012 NBA Championship after taking down the Oklahoma City Thunder in five hard-fought games. Be sure to catch up on anything you might’ve missed in our liveblog, and here are some details from ESPN’s recap: “The critics can stop now. King James is finally a champion. Behind yet another stellar effort from the regular season’s most valuable player, the Miami Heatrouted the Oklahoma City Thunder 121-106 in Game 5 of the NBA Finals as LeBron James won his first championship. James, whose ‘I’ll be taking my talents to South Beach’ declaration angered the masses and made the Heat into league-wide villains two summers ago, capped his stellar 2012 Finals with a triple-double. James scored 26, adding 13 assists and 11 rebounds and was unanimously voted the Finals’ most valuable player. Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, the other two-thirds of Miami’s ‘Big Three,’ poured in 20 and 24, respectively. Mike Miller scored 23 points on 7-for-8 shooting from 3-point range for Miami, which adds this title to the one it claimed in 2006.”

..and of course, THAT one shows up..LOL.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Redd

If you want the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA to get back on track vote LeBRON JAMES FOR PRESIDENT 2012

  • SwaGG_SeaN

Please don’t give the following players ring: Ronnie Tauriaf,Juan Howard and Eddie Curry, please don’t give them rings!!!!!! They’re just a bunch of dick riders!!!!!!

  • http://Slamonline.com 1982

I agree, in no way shape or form does Juan Howard deserve a ring or a place in the NBA record books.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Chubachuchi

By the time LeBron retires he will own all of the record books.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Chubachuchi

OKC should swap harden/westbrook for Odom/Lin..thats the only possibility they have at making it back to the finals.

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

Lol no. That is blatantly false

  • http://www.slamonline.com Chubachuchi

Odom is westbrook 2.0 and Lin is a future Perennial all star…harden can only excel against second tier players

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

    Bahaha lol. Good one.

  • http://www.facebook.com/joe.l.brewer3 BlackPhantom

How does trading guys like Harden and Westbrook for freakin’ Lamar Odom and Jeremy Lin help the Thunder out? I mean seriously, I hope you’re joking.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Chubachuchi

Lin is better than harden and westbrook. He gets to the rack like both players but unlike rick ross and kool aid shirt he can make plays for others when his offense isnt going. Lamar Odom is a real sixth man (not only does his stats carry over to the finals) he dosent make his team lose 17 point leads when he comes in the game

  • http://www.facebook.com/joe.l.brewer3 BlackPhantom

    ….

  • http://www.facebook.com/joe.l.brewer3 BlackPhantom

@ Chubachuchi i had to re-read and well when you put it like that you got me. CHECK AND MATE (please ignore what i said before)

  • http://www.facebook.com/joe.l.brewer3 BlackPhantom

I need to stop acting like Skip Bayless. LeBron is the face of a new era in basketball

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

So you want a guy who has been a good player for literally half the games he played in, and even when he was good was not even close to as good as Westbrook (seriously look at the numbers and also start to care about defense) and a guy who was so terrible his team paid him not to play for them this season, to Oklahoma City (a place Lamar Odom will REFUSE to go, assuming he signs with New York for the minimum in the first place bahahahaha not going to happen either) for two all-star caliber players who are 22 an 23 that just made an appearance in the finals? You realize Harden was a very good Player in every series but the finals? Of course you don’t. Honestly i thought you were joking, this is literally the dumbest serious trade idea i’ve ever heard. And to top it off you called Jeremy Lin a perennial all-star?!?! Gahahahahahhahahahahaha he will lucky to play in the all-star game once. Very lucky. WoW. Thank you for the comedy.

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

i am seriously in shock that you were serious. I have to say again, that is the dumbest trade scenario I have ever read someone seriously try to defend. i mean that is just unbelievably stupid. i don’t care if my reaction is rude. incredible.

  • http://www.facebook.com/joe.l.brewer3 BlackPhantom

^ J Lin would own harden and westbrook. But it dosent matter the only way to stop this Heat dynasty is if D Will, Kobe, KD, DIRK, and Dwight all get on the same team with Rondo coming off the bench.

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

Ok that was either sarcasm from Phantom or a Troll. Cool story bruh.

  • http://www.facebook.com/joe.l.brewer3 BlackPhantom

nbk we just need to stop hating. OKC wont be ready to get crowned champions for at least another decade

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

Phantom there are too many trolls not under bridges for me to know if you are the real you being sarcastic or a troll right now.

  • http://www.facebook.com/joe.l.brewer3 BlackPhantom

Bro i had an epiphany last night. Bron is just to great. It would take the aformentioned lineup of Dirk and company or J Lin/Odom, Westbrook/Harden swap to stop this Heat dynasty from winning nine of the next ten championships. The NBA has a new Bill Russell

See this Slam? This is why we need a log in system. Please.

The Seed just says Kd didn’t show up.
30.something points on 54% I repeat 54% shooting is something Kobe dreams of.
Nothing against Kobe but you have to show respect.

now that this is out of the way…. Steve Nash got next.

Eboy I like your comment about haters..”No “f*ck the haters” or anything like that today”. I do agree that the hate and media gave them that us against the world mentality. For those who don’t believe in that you must not have played serious sports or in a hostile environment. That whole “haters” thing is so teenish. lol. Most of the people throwing it around are the ones hating on something/someone. My students will say that someone is “hating” on them and I’ll say that all they did was walk by with the same sneakers on and didn’t say a word or give even a glance their way. lol. HATERS…rotfl at the term.

AllenP: You may be somewhat right about my opinion on the overall D. When I said “Too many guys play loose D so they can hurry up and get on offense” I meant it. IMO the matador D and flopping is out of control. Too many players go to the hole and shoot jumpers with the intent to draw a foul instead of making the bucket and 1. I could be wrong but when you see ultra talented scorers throwing their hands up and flailing before their shot has barely left their hands it’s sad. The replay often shows that they were not touched, created the contact themselves or didn’t get touchedI enough to react as if mugged. lol. I respect your knowledge of the game enough AllenP to say..I do not need to look up anything you wrote b/c you either already looked it up or just know it. Blessings fam. (In like Ish 1)

@ Lakeshow: Well, since you mentioned it, Mother Teresa was actually a huge fraud, lol. Google “Michael Parenti Mother Teresa” and read the first link that comes up. Or click my name–it’s a good short read. Dr. Parenti has also written the best article on the Dalai Lama, who was the biggest slave-owner of the 20th Century. If you need some summer reading on certain religious heroes being total frauds, you can thank me later.
Anyways, regardless of all that politickin’, much love to the Slamily. I think I commented more on non-basketball stuff than basketball this year. LOL.
Extra shouts to LA Huey and MikeC., who are the funniest commenters here. Charliewinning is my dude too.

It’s been a good year guys, it really has. First time I ever made an effort to become a “regular” commenter. Hope y’all enjoyed my rants at least a little bit. Time to work on my Mock Draft now…probably the most difficult to predict since 08.

  • http://slamonline.com Datkid

lmaooooo @ swapping J Lin and Odom for Harden and westbrook. I actually really like Jeremy Lin but do people remember what happened to him against the heat??? i’m CRYING. Westbrook’s athletic aggressiveness kept OKC in like 3 games… Lin could NOT do that. Jeremy Lin couldn’t beat even an injured D.wade off the dribble consistently and plus Westbrook guarded Lebron a couple possessions, and Lin would die instantly if he had to do that. and Odom showing up in the finals? are you kidding me? Odom didn’t even show up in the regular season for the mavs… and was useless against the mavs last year in the 2nd round. Plus when the lakers had to rely on him instead of bynum in 08…they lost.

The only way I can mentally process Chubachuchi’s comments is by assuming that he’s not serious…that is just insane…

Whatsup with all the shout outs?

  • BostonBaller

Heals, I like Westbrook but I never thought of switching him with RR. Ever since he came to town I’ve been thankful for a pass 1st pg…and now that he seems to be getting better from the outside I’m even more glad we have him. It’s almost draft time which means it’s shake up time.

  • http://slamonline.com The Philosopher

    His shot has definitely improved…

  • http://Roosterteeth.com Caboose

Oh, and shoutout to Mark Cuban for absolutely destroying Skip Bayless. If you haven’t seen it, go watch it now. It’s like Herman Cain taking on Jon Stewart.

  • http://www.michaelparenti.org/motherteresa.html Teddy-the-Bear

@ nbk: Jeremy Lin will be lucky to make 1 All-Star game? I think you’re underestimating the “popular Asian factor,” as well as the “New York point guard factor,” which form a dangerous combo when it comes to All-Star vote-getting.

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

Derrick Rose, Teddy. If a slightly above average PG dominates all-star voting then that’s great. It will drive the NBA to change its system. So I hope I’m wrong, just so fan voting can be abolished. Frankly, I hate fan voting, general “fans” (aka children and china) don’t know what the hell they are doing. And as the largest % of voters they coincidentally also make up the smallest % of viewers for the game that they spend so much time skewing the voting for.

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

    ^not me

  • http://www.michaelparenti.org/motherteresa.html Teddy-the-Bear

Of course Rose deserves to start, I was joking lol. But there ARE tonnes of basketball fans in China who know what they’re talking about. Also you can’t expect people in Asia to catch every game live like ppl do in the West when there’s a 14 hour time difference.
Anyways fan voting is lame, but the only time it’s been a problem really (from Chinese fans) is when Yi Jianlian was almost voted a starter. That was obviously ridiculous, but it never happened. The votes Yao Ming got were well-deserved aside from his rookie year. He was clearly hands down the best center in the West post-Shaq and it would have been a travesty if he WASN’T starting. So I think that’s overblown. American fans can be pretty boneheaded too, i.e. voting Carmelo Anthony in as a starter this year… How has Deron Williams made only 3 All-Star appearances? That’s mainly on the coaches but there were a few times he should have started, if starting was really based on who are the best players.

  • http://www.michaelparenti.org/motherteresa.html Teddy-the-Bear

    ok I am confused.

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

Don’t worry that was me. Dumbass troll tryna confuse you. You know I’ve been b*tching about fan voting for years

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

The main portion of American fans who vote for the all star game are 15 years and younger. Saw that stat a couple years ago during all-access or one of those NBATV shows. It wasn’t worded exactly tht way, but that was the jist of it.

  • http://www.facebook.com/joe.l.brewer3 BlackPhantom

@ Jordan was no where near the level Bron is playing at. Jordan would not get drafted out of high school even if he graduated in 2003. Now lets examine the Jordan era: Magic nor any other laker would have the strength to contain LeBron, Bird would just be a WITNESS because he’s to slow with zero athletIcism, Isiah would get locked up (ie derrick rose), Ewing really? the knicks dont know how to win a chip unless fraziers on the court, Clyde and Terry Porter wouldnt stand a chance, LeBron would counter all of hakeem’s offense with offense because the dream passed his post secrets to the king but Bron would win the series because he can shut kenny smith and cassell DOWN, Stockton and mailman would both be returned to sender, and early was a shaq was a stat stuffer not a champion

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

@ nbk: that doesn’t surprise me. And I’m guessing that’s the same age bracket for Chinese fan voters.

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

If Harden doesn’t get a max contract does that mean OKC can afford him? I’m not quite so sure he won’t get a max deal though–the Raptors are desperate enough to pull the trigger. And I sincerely hope they do…

  • http://Roosterteeth.com Caboose

Teddy, I heard the same stuff, that Toronto REALLY wants Harden. Suns too. If Phoenix misses Waiters ( it seems like more and more noise is growing that Portland will take him at 11), expect them to throw stupid money at Beardie. Ibaka will get Deandre Jordan money easily. I sincerely doubt that OKC will want 115% of its cap in 4 players with ballooning contracts. And BP, I sure hope that’s your troll.
