Tony Parker Injured Eye During Drake-Chris Brown NYC Nightclub Brawl

San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker and New York Knicks guard Iman Shumpert were both present early Thursday morning at WIP, an upscale New York City nightclub, when a fight broke out between rappers Chris Brown and Drake. The fight was supposedly caused by a debate over their ex-girlfriend, singer Rihanna, which is not entirely relevant to the basketball world. What is relevant, however, is that while Shumpert escaped unscathed, Parker got caught in the melee, and subsequently suffered an eye injury that will keep him out for at least one week. Scary stuff. Reuters has the details: “The three-time NBA champion said he got some shards of glass in his left eye during the incident on Wednesday. ‘I was there with a bunch of friends when a fight broke out. They started to throw bottles about… I got it all,’ Parker told a news conference. ‘The cornea has been touched. I can’t do anything for seven days… But I was lucky. The injury won’t prevent me from competing the Olympics in any way,’ he added. Parker is due to join the French Olympic squad on June 20.”
