Wizards to Workout Robinson, Kidd-Gilchrist, Beal This Week

Selecting third in the upcoming NBA Draft, the Washington Wizards are in full evaluation mode, as they hope to draft a future franchise cornerstone. This week, the Wizards will bring in Thomas Robinson, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, and Bradley Beal for individual workouts, all of whom are projected top-5 picks. The Washington Post has the details: “The Wizards will bring in three candidates, beginning Wednesday with local product Thomas Robinson from Kansas. Beal will work out on Thursday, followed by Kidd-Gilchrist on Friday. Robinson has already expressed a desire to play for his hometown Wizards and will have the first opportunity to prove to them that they should invest their top draft pick in the 6-foot-9 power forward. Robinson, Beal and Kidd-Gilchrist could also be scooped up at No. 2 by Charlotte — or any team that is willing to move up in a draft where the only certainty is that Anthony Davis will go first overall to New Orleans. The Wizards have three picks in the upcoming draft, including Nos. 32 and 46. With the lockout pushing back the NBA lottery and the NBA combine back a few weeks, teams have less time to evaluate players in advance of the draft.”

I think Wash should go after Beal because they are in dire need of a shooter to play alongside Wall.

Man, any of these guys would be great. Kidd-Gilchrist has the motor and effectiveness to make a whole team better than what they were before. He could be the “glue” like he was at Kentucky. Beal is definitely a good shooter (though there is room for improvement, like for all the other players) and he’s versatile enough to not only shoot perimeter shots, but midrange shots and rebounding as well. Thomas Robinson (although I don’t like the chippiness towards AD…) is a BEAST in all regards and him with John Wall could definitely be an unstoppable force. It’s hard to choose. LOL.
