Andrei Kirilenko Said He’s Running ‘Like a Young Deer’

AK-47 is Minnesota bound, and it remains to be seen just how excited Timberwolves fans are about their new “deer”. From the AP: “Slashing to the rim, blocking shots and getting out in transition in Russia’s first game of the Olympics, Andrei Kirilenko looked every bit the all-around force he was as a young man with the Utah Jazz. ‘I feel great,’ Kirilenko said after scoring 35 points on 14-for-17 shooting against Britain on Sunday. ‘Look at me. I’m running like a young deer.’ The only people happier with his performance than the Russians had to be the Minnesota Timberwolves. After skipping last season to play in his native Moscow, Kirilenko signed a two-year, $20 million contract with the Wolves on Friday. Kirilenko will be bringing Russian teammate Alexey Shved with him to the Timberwolves next season. Shved had 16 points and 13 assists against overmatched Britain. ‘If I’m the Minnesota Timberwolves, I have a big, fat smile on my face,’ Russian coach David Blatt said.”

    Alexey Shved was ballin’ !!
I see the Timberwolves have done good this off-season. I see them making the 8th or maybe 7th spot in the West next season.

Well I sure hope these two play well for the Wolves

This would have been a good headline if he wanted out of Minnesota!

AK47 should have went to a contender. Minny will make the playoffs and could probably beat Spurs in 1st round like Memphis did two years ago. Imagine him on a top 5 team in the NBA, if he is truly back to being a poor man’s Scottie Pippen.

    I think the Wolves are a 4th – 6th seed in the West after this off-season :)

T-Wolves gunna be good next year. No thanks to that stat stuffer K-Love ;)

All those moves and we kept Derrick Williams, Barea and Ridnour. I thought we would have to give up at least 2 of the 3 to get anyone with talent.

Wes Johnson didn’t do much for MN last year, but do not give up on him, he will probably do very well in Phoenix, otherwise Darko, Beasley, A Randolph and the rest not gonna miss them

AK47 is a all around pest especially on defense and will compliment perfectly KLove non existing defensive game. And Shved is no slouch. Saw him this year beasting of the bench as a sixth man on Euroleague star studded runner up CSKA Moscow. He is a 6’6 point guard with an impressive scoring ability. Might play a similar role on the wolves.
All they need is a center to bolster their front line.
The coaching is there. I might be exaggerating but all in all I don’t see why they can’t get to a 4,5 place

that dude Shved can play, he might be a pleasant surprise for the T-wolves
