Atlanta Hawks Traded Marvin Williams to Utah for Devin Harris

In addition to sending Joe Johnson to Brooklyn, the Hawks continued to clean house by shipping Marvin Williams off to Utah. Per the AJC: “The Hawks and Nets have agreed to terms on a trade that would send All-Star guard Joe Johnson to Brooklyn for multiple players with expiring contracts and a first-round draft pick, according to a person with knowledge of the deal. The Hawks also have agreed to trade forward Marvin Williams to Utah for point guard Devin Harris, according to a person with knowledge of the agreement. Trades can’t be officially consummated until the NBA moratorium ends on July 11 but the person said the Hawks and Nets have agreed on the framework of a deal. The person said in exchange for Johnson, the Hawks would receive Jordan Farmar, Anthony Morrow, Johan Petro, DeShawn Stevenson and Jordan Williams. Atlanta also would receive the lottery-protected, 2013 first-round draft pick that the Nets acquired in a trade with the Rockets.”

Sure you’re dumping a bad salary but where are all these players gonna fit, that’s like 3+ new wing players in ATL

I would have rather seen Jeff Teague develop, he’s got lots of potential and besides Marvin Williams had some solid games in playoffs. Just my 2 cents.

I like how Danny Ferry comes in and right away puts the eraser to two of Atlanta biggest mistakes.(drafting Marvin Williams with the number 2 pick and overpaying Joe Johnson)

Jeff Teague? I don’t even know who you are talking about. That guy’s a nobody.

We had to dump the over-inflated salary of Johnson. Besides, Josh Smith plays better and scores more with Joe on the bench anyway. What I dont get is why he is never an All-Star? Maybe he needs to punch more players or drag a few point guards to the ground like Lebron James.
