Boston Celtics, Jason Terry Agree to a 3-Year Deal


According to Yahoo! Sports, Jason Terry (an unrestricted free agent this summer) is on his way to Beantown. Terry has reportedly agreed to a 3-year deal with the Celtics: “The Celtics will use their $5 million mid-level exception to sign Terry. The total value of the contract will be worth more than $15 million. Terry spoke with Celtics president Danny Ainge and coach Doc Rivers on the first day of free agency Sunday. Rivers said he hopes Boston can still re-sign Ray Allen, in addition to adding Terry. The Celtics have also already reached agreement with Kevin Garnett on a three-year, $34 million contract. Free agents can sign contracts on July 11.”

    T-Money, if they could have got OJ on the cheap he would have been better, because him, Rajon, & bradley is a nice core of guards for the future. but immediately, i agree, Terry helps more.

    i love this move… i was one of the oj mayo guys becasue hes young and maybe moving forward it would be the best move to me. But as long as we get better is all i care about. Jeff Green is a lock. He wants to prove to the world hes a better player than when he 1st came over for Perk. and i believe he can still be more valuble than Perk in the end.

    This move may be the last straw that causes Ray Allen to stray. First the trade talk, then Avery Bradley, now this? It’s a good pick up though for Boston. Terry is a gamer

    @Mack, if RayRay wanted to be a C, he would’ve, this is a business and he knows it. So does Bos so rather than get caught flat-footed they made their move. Interesting though +; woulda been awesome cause of his age and mentality, plus his weaknesses would be covered up by complimentary players (JGreen, Mayo off the bench, ahh what could’ve been). As for Jet, he fits perfect with this team, it’s just that RayRay fits better in Mia than any of these guys fit in Bos, so they stay one leg up on everybody. Here’s to hopin Jesus settles for the city of Angels…

    Just letting him have free reign with no competetion ahead of him or behind him in the gym with him EVERYDAY will make him fat(headed). they will compete for the job if Mayo comes over. Its healthy.
    Either way, they will both be winners.
    Boston still happens to be losing production since they had Bradley and RayAllen last year. Another guard is in order.
    And the argument of being over paid goes both ways.
    The winning type dont fall under that criteria and I see Oj as the winning type.
    And all that mess about PaulPierce not letting go of the team… were you not watching the last half of the season & playoffs when Ray, Paul, and KG openly ADMITTED they turned the team over to Rondo.
    HUSH my child. all is well.
    Like i said, those losing franchises have nothing to offer but money. No legacy, no future, no chance of greatness anywhere else but Boston.

    Boston is offering Ray 6per but something tells me with this signing, Ray wants to be a starter, maybe. You wont start in Miami and make less tho. idk.

    Hes a good player, a veteran-been here,done that,do it again type player… why would i have a problem with him coming over? He’s had a better career than OJ. Calling me out like you said, GET Jet.

    Boston can still sign Allen at 6 mill a year for two or three years apparently. Plus Ray is basically guaranteed a starting job over at the Clippers and more money than Miami. Either way, dope pick up for the C’s, man. Just further confirmation that the Knicks will be fighting for their playoff lives this coming season if they don’t sign Nash AND learn how to PASS THE BALL while playing the little bit of defense that their laziness allows them to. If the C’s can keep their veteran core along with Fab, Sullenger – or however you spell dudes name – Jeff Green, Bradley, damn! Heat, Celtics, Nets – so much for the Knicks “resurgence.”

    Boston has assuming Garnett’s contract is worth about $9.75million (assuming as most veteran deals do, it increases 5% per season), Boston’s payroll is right now Approximately $41.75million with SEVEN players (Rondo, Bradley, Pierce, Garnett, Johnson, Stiemsma, Williams, Moore) with the salary cap at 58.044 that leaves Bowton with almost 17 million (close to $27M but not really) in cap space. You think they want to use around $10M of it on OJ Mayo, in hopes to win a title, fine.     What a coup for the Celtics. I think the most important number is 28: that’s the number of games that Jason Terry has missed in his CAREER. He’s been very consistent, scoring 16 points over his Mavs career (most of it off the bench) and most importantly, been very very healthy. For a C’s team that needs an extra scoring punch off the bench and someone who can just show up throughout 82+ games, a great signing for a relatively low price.
