Charles Barkley to Dwight Howard: ‘Make a Decision and Live With It’

Many have grown restless with Dwight Howard’s inability to figure out where he’d like to play and stick with that decision, including, according to ESPN Dallas, none other than Sir Charles: “Sick and tired of Dwight Howard’s flip-flopping and trade demands? So is Charles Barkley. ‘Dwight needs to make a decision because I’m sick of hearing about it every year where he’s going to go and I told him he needs to grow up and make a decision,’ Barkley said Saturday prior to playing in Dirk Nowitzki’s Heroes Celebrity baseball game in Frisco, Texas. ‘I don’t want to hear this stuff ever year coming up on the trade deadline. Make a decision and live with it.’”

this guy is such a spoiled brat and magic should give him a dose of reality by trading him to the bobcats LOL seriously dwight, common man. .just make a decision n play ball

  • http://www.nba.com/knicks danfields

looks like its the nets now. that would also mean tht deron williams n jkidd will do so too. http://tracking.si.com/2012/07/01/orlando-magic-dwight-howard-wants-trade-to-nets/?sct=nba_t2_a3

im a magic fan..just send him to houston and lets get those 12 and 14 picks and lets rebuild.. I hate it when Dwight is becoming worst than LBJ.

I can understand Dwight’s angst. He may be emotionally attached to the Magic which has treated him well and made him the face of the franchise. He has also had play-off level success with Orlando. However, the reality is that there is no longer parity in the NBA … it’s a league of a few “haves” and several “have nots.” If you are not a member of the “haves” then you will never win a ‘chip. Horry, Jr. understood this well when he was cryin’ about leaving L.A. after he ran Shaq out of town.

having said that shock exchange… barkely’s advice!

  • http://www.newyorkshockexchange.com Shock Exchange

    spit hot fiyah,

Agreed. But it’s easier said than done. Barkley was in a similar situation with the 76′ers – constantly making the playoffs but not championship caliber. He stayed with the 76′ers until he was past his prime before moving on to Phoenix, Houston, etc.

  • Zabbah

Barkely was in his prime with the Suns. ’93 MVP?

  • http://www.newyorkshockexchange.com Shock Exchange

By ’93 he had already been in the league 9 years. Anyway, I was trying to convey that Barkley spent years on a 76′ers team that could not win a ‘chip. He road his teammates like Seattle Slew, particularly Hersey Hawkins. For years the general sentiment was that “Barkely should quit taking his frustrations out on his teammates and just leave Philly.” Barkely’s suggestion that Howard “shut up and leave” is a little harder than it sounds … he couldn’t do it.

Not sure if Barkely’s suggestion was “shut up and leave” it was more like shut up and make a decision. He could care less if he stays or leaves just stfu until you make up your mind.

  • http://www.newyorkshockexchange.com Shock Exchange

Correct. But either way, it’s still a lot easier said than done … Barkely couldn’t do it.

You might as well send Howard where he wants to go. . .You send him to the bobcats. . .what would that do? It would only mean we’d have to hear more trade demands from him. . .do you all really want that?

  • http://Roosterteeth.com Caboose

Shock Exchange just makes me laugh.

  • ash

I belive Howard should of left last year. I do think he was torn between Magic and Nets. However he should of told the media “he would make the decision at the end of the season”. People are blaming Dwight but he only answered the questions he was asked. Media can make you love or hate player. The writers have to have something to talk about

  • Slam-man

Who the hell are these people in the Magic organization that leaks everything he tells them. It not like he makes a press conference every time he changes his mind. He has the right to go to the team and tell them what’s on his mind. Then it’s the teams job to change his mind if they want to keep him. They don’t have to tell the world what’s going on behind closed doors. So for that reason I put about 70% of the blame on the Magics or whoever is leaking info.

  • robb

    and shut up!

  • anonymous

A lot of sheeple are trying to steer blame away from D12 on this one. ‘Its the media’s fault’, no it’s not. Its dwight’s fault, he’s a big boy. Orlando put 1 (1 time) all star, and a couple previous all stars around him and their roster was always ugly and overpaid, if you want to blame someone instead of D12, blame Otis Smith. Absolutely terrible GM. Holding on to Jameer Nelson like he’s anything to covet at all bringing on ridiculous contracts of aging ‘stars’. Making Rashard lewis the poster boy of why the general population will never, ever watch the NBA. Good job Otis!

  • MirChilly

Blaming Otis Smith for Dwight situation is dumb. Let’s not act like Dwight came out with Tim Duncan post game. He was raw. Orlando protected his development, surrounded him with countless scorers, shooters and playmakers. Teams never doubled Dwight because their shooters was so deadly yet he never avg over 25 a gm. Dwight isn’t a superstar. Give any other superstar center that, and they avg 30 easy. Let’s not act like Dwight was stuck with horrible players

Look it’s so simple for magic to trade Dwight

Thunder do ibaka and harden for Anderson and Howard.
Clippers- Griffin Deandre Jordan for Anderson Howard
King- Demarcus cousins and tyreke Evans for Dwight and future first round picks 2013
Warriors- klay thompson, Harrison Barnes, Andrew bogut,

Or actually Dwight for any team. And who cares if he opts out. The teams that are taking that chance should worry not magv

  • bdogg

barkley is absolutely correct! make up your mind..no one told you to sign the “in” in march..that is his own fault..he was so aftaid of getting shipped and looking like a “bad” guy he put himself in this decision! no he has to live with it! he is lucky he will not wind up on the bobcats for half a year!

  • Billy Hoyle

Maybe he’s waiting for ESPN to pitch him on his own “Decision” show. lol.
Big as he is, he shouldve just dominated the league with the magic..I would take Ibaka over this guy at least Ibaka plays hard.

  • http://www.triplejunearthed.com/dacre Dacre

I’m in the line to rag on Dwight as much as the next guy…. who doesn’t know much about the inner workings of Dwights life…. BUT, if Dwight puts an idea out there (in the public forum) every. sing. offseason. it does get a little old…. the internet is just one big echo of something that was uttered 4 years ago and it’s just bouncing around and being repeated…

  • TV63

Enough is enough. It will be an awful nightmare if the Magic don’t trtade him now. He’s already gone (in his heart) Time to break it off and make the best deal and move on.

  • RG33

The real BIG BABY of Orlando Magic throwing temper tantrums again and again… just get the hell out Mr. “I am too loyal”!

  • Clydesays

The Magic need to rebuild, so go for picks, young core players and expiring deals. Dwight is on a 1 yr deal & coming off surgery. He can rebuild his game and image anywhere. Then he can have his pick of teams in’13. Just make the deal.

  • hushabomb

If Indiana have an offer for Hibbert (via Portland) then that can make an interesting 3-4 team trade.

Orlando should strike now and make a trade. Get someone established and some young guys. And whatever trade you make, put Jameer Nelson in that trade. Orlando needs a pure PG and not a scorer at PG.

Orlando has pieces, they just need the balls to make a trade go through

I know all of you have had your own experiences being NBA free agents, trying to make a decision on leaving a team you’ve been with your entire career…Oh wait, that’s right. NONE of you have. Case closed, internet GMs/NBA blog players. All of you keyboard analysts are so funny.

  • tpathi1

wasn’t it pretty obvious this guy would leave last year? i dont get what the hold up is, dwight is really acting like a child about this. Im pretty sure any hard core magic fan never had the impression that dwight would stay…and stan van tried to re write the way bball should be played with dwight being the center..there was maybe one other defender on those magic teams and all other players were three point shooters…dwight would be the only one under the rim getting rebounds then kick it out to a three point gunner..i dont see that style of ball ever actually winning a championship

  • tpathi1

stan van got fired cause he was ego tripping..and now dwight should leave because they have no damn personnel for him to work with..all the players on that team still got the same mentality..there is nothing left for him to do but leave town and get booed every time he comes back to orlando

  • Tarzan Grant

for all those people that hated LeBron for doing “The Decision” and wasting an hours of most people’s lives they are never going to get back, at least he made a decision. No matter how hated he became, LBJ said he was going to Miami, dealt with all the ridicule, scrutiny, but he still was able to suck it up and win a ring. Dwight Howard need to quit being a punk, stop trying to have everyone like you, and just leave. What’s so stupid is that he put himself in this position by not opting out last year. If he wanted to leave, he should’ve told them, now all he’s doing is making empty threats. I know he’s isn’t going to be traded to the Magic cause Hennigan is going to trade him to the team that has the best deal

  • Trololol

If im the president of Magic i will trade Dwight to Toronto with the right to pick there 1st round no 1,2,3 and etc but most of all so Dwight freeze his ass off and make him realize what life is lmao.
