Dallas Mavericks Expected to Sign Chris Kaman

It may not be the free agent they were hoping for, but the Dallas Mavericks have brought in some help for Dirk Nowitzki, in the form of center Chris Kaman. Per ESPN.com’s Marc Stein: “Sources told ESPN.com that the Mavs are on the verge of finalizing a deal to team Kaman with close friend Dirk Nowitzki, his teammate on the German national team during the 2008 Olympics. The deal would be for one year, a source told ESPNDallas.com. Financial details were not immediately known.”

And Kaman confirmed it:

How the mighty have fallen…Definitely the 2nd most disappointing follow up by a champ since I’ve been watching the NBA

We are the Knights who say, Meh..

When did we stop saying Knee?

  • Mvpitzki

Great pickup. The Heat had trouble defending one seven foot white guy(Dirk), now they wont be able to defend two……2013 Champs!!!!

Yea I’m very sure people are afraid of what the Mavs will do now. Kind’ve..sort’ve..maybe?

When Kaman got signed by the Mavs.

This will be a good upgrade from Haywood imo.

Mavericks should have just kept Tyson Chandler if they are going to waste money on Chris Kaman.

one year deal. good pickup with no obligation next summer.

I’m hearing it’s 8M. The Mavs finally got someone this offseason.

if kaman can stay healthy this would be great move for the mavs. kaman is a scorer but mavs still have holes to fill

  • T-Money

    8 mil?! wow.

Chris is a good player, this not a move to sleep on….it wont make them contenders but maybe an opportunity surfaces during the season they can capitalize on and they’ll be right back in the mix.

@ Huey: First was what, the Heat after ’06?

  • justin05

Mark Cuban has been spending too much of his time with Shark Tank and other investments. The Mavericks will be an 8 seed at best next season.

  • markorsomething

They got Darren Collison too. That takes care of their PG troubles.

@ slick ric – that opportunity would have to be that all the team planes flying to their away games collide in mid air. . . And fall on LA Forum.

Ppl aren’t understanding that other than tyson…this is the best center the mavs have had in about a decade, this is actually a pretty solid pick up, which at least imo ensures they’re a playoff team. Which i had questions about as early as yesterday. Let’s see what else they can do now, this was a good start.

@The Seed – Cuban said it was difficult to keep Chandler because of the CBA (click my name). Or perhaps he was just whining again.

Anyone is better than Haywood. Kaman can seriously hoop. Not as impactful as Chandler, but a vast improvement over Haywood.

collison is too up and down to be labeled a starter but he`s a good backup. they still need a starting pg imo. there are a few pgs still available in free agency. they need to sign one of them and then fill the starting 2 position with another free agent signing

  • Lila

Collison is a gift. ¿What was thinking Indiana?

  • Yann Blavec

Didn’t Kaman play with dirk in the mannshaft ?

Now they need to get juice mayo

  • LA Huey

Teddy, nah, I got them ranked 3rd. Their problem was all their key guys were too old to do anything after that chip. The Mavs came into the season with 2/5 bullets in the gun. ’99 Bulls were the worst. They came back with an empty barrell.

  • OneStep

Now if they can just get a hold of Detlef Schrempf…
