Denver Nuggets Reportedly Offering 5-Year, $50 Million Deal to JaVale McGee

JaVale McGee’s performance during last season’s Playoffs ensured that he’d be an insanely rich man going forward. According to the Denver Post, the Nuggets are prepared to sign the restricted free agent to a $50 million contract: “The Nuggets continue to pursue restricted free-agent center JaVale McGee, who has a five-year, $50 million offer on the table, a source said. But McGee’s representatives don’t appear to be in a hurry to get a deal done and will continue to negotiate. The Nuggets can match any offer another NBA team would make to McGee, 24. In the 20 regular-season games he played for the Nuggets last season, the 7-footer averaged 10.3 points and 5.8 rebounds and made five starts. In the seven-game playoff series against the Lakers, he averaged 9.6 rebounds, 8.6 points and 3.1 blocked shots. He scored 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in Game 5. The Nuggets acquired McGee in a trade with the Wizards for Nene.”

considering what deandre jordan gets paid, and brook lopez…this is basically his market value, very inflated, but i guess there is premium on 7 footers that can catch a pass these days.

This is an awesome time period for decent big man talent financially. Max deals for mildly good players.

The NBA is the gravy train of any 7 footer who has the coordination to tie his own shoes without farting.

A good time to be 7ft.

This guy’s potential is crazy, but so is he. Literally. Can you say headcase?

  • Ash

He does have great potential. Played very well in playoffs and hasn’t raned into any trouble with Nuggets. Javale said himself after win on Lakers floor how great of organization the Nuggets are and great coaching staff. Hope he stays

I say a 4 year 32million contract for him he is not going to get better he just had a good series against LA Who’s starting point guard wouldn’t shoot the open shot and therefore LA big man stayed double teamed. Isiah Thomas did the same thing with Jerome James from seattle sonics when he had a good playoff series the year before.

    SO sign LA huey

JaVale got a good deal. Could have done better but I’m sure he will be able to feed his family for a while. While your out in Denver tell Keneth Faried to stop gambling in Vegas so much. Save your money guys.

You can’t teach height but you sure can buy it.

  • bike

@Huey LOL. Are you sure that JaVale can tie his own shoes w/out farting?

  • LA Huey

bike, he CAN. But like me, he generally doesn’t because you can’t pass up great lulz.

  • Billy Hoyle

He just needs a couple of workouts with Olajuwon to develop into something…him and deandre jordan are pretty much the same guy.

Playing with Ty Lawson and Andre Miller he won’t need post moves. All he has to do is sprint the floor and improve his free throws and he can get you 14 and 8 easy. I guess thats worth 10 million a year right? Right?

So everyone realizes this guy was second in the league in blocks last season and only played like 22 minutes a night right? This deal makes all the sense in the world.

  • Greg

He’s not worth 10 mil but you know some idiot GM is gonna 13 mil per year at him…

  • MDubb3

JaVale Mcgee has potential but he’s a dumb@$$
