Kirk Hinrich Verbally Commits to Bulls

Though they drafted Marquis Teague in last month’s Draft, it appears the Chicago Bulls have been searching for a little more reinforcement at the point guard spot, and now that’ll come in the form of free agent Kirk Hinrich, who has verbally committed to signing a deal with the team. Per the Chicago Tribune: “Just over two years after getting traded from the Chicago Bulls to the Washington Wizards, sources said free-agent guard Kirk Hinrich has verbally agreed to return to the franchise that drafted him. Hinrich, who spent his first seven seasons with the Bulls, is expected to sign a two-year deal worth just over $6 million, one source said, though details were still being finalized. The free-agent moratorium ends July 11. Hinrich solves the Bulls’ primary need for a combo guard who can start at point guard while Derrick Rose rehabilitates from knee surgery, then slide over to shooting guard to back up Richard Hamilton and play alongside Rose eventually. Hinrich, 31, averaged 6.6 points and 2.8 assists on 41.4 percent shooting in 48 games for the Atlanta Hawks last season.”

Solid pick up, I was pretty sad when they got rid of him the first time.

  • Stephan

Pretty nice pick, better defensively than CJ. Hope they can pick up Tracy McGrady and Kyle Korver

  • CaptainKirk

Finally a good news for my Bulls! I guess many fans missed him and he’s a perfect fit for the team!

Since Omer Asik gone they might as well bring back the almighty Eddy Curry.

I’m a Bulls Fan. I love Captain Kirk. I’m just hoping the Bulls management make tons of move because with or without Derrick Rose in the line-up we are not going anywhere with the current line-up. Teams like Lakers NAsh, OKC with Perry Jones and Hasheem the dream, Miami with Jesus, Clippers with Jamal, Boston with Terry & Sullinger are improving so much. I just really hope for your true fans’ sake you get players like OJ MAYO. PLEASE DO SOMETHING FORMAN OR you want a lottery pick next year and get SHabazzzzzzzz!!!???????

  • Tyquez Foster

good move he played good for them a couple years ago….good 2 guard

he is more of a 1, Tyquez.
the only time he played 2 is DRose’s rookie year.
he was more like a PG training wheels for DRose.
like what ridnour was to rubio last season

Excellent!!! Finally good news from my Bullies!!!

As a Hawks fan, I strongly disagree that he is more of a 1 at this point in his career. He can’t play the 1 on offense anymore.

  • Sundance

The article makes it sound like he’s a high school player

    KYYYYYYEEEEEESSSSSS!!
Kirk is a natural one, he played 2 on the hawks mostly cuz of teague.
    We good.

  • Jose

I always considered kirk a 1 who could defend 2′s .. . i remember the problems he gave Wade back in the day

That’s back in the day. Need to check his state and see if he’s still effective.

  • melvinorsomething

Nice to see my man finally back in Chicago.

  • LA Huey

    Still not enough.

  • Fresh Boiardee

Bulls still need some fire power… the east is getting aggressive, Indy, Boston, Brooklyn (if they dwight), MIA are all going to be ahead of them if they don’t get some legit scorers.

Signing Gerald Green would be huge for us.

  • http://www.nba.com Shadojoker

I agree with Red..Gerald Green would help a lot..if we coulda sign James White instead of New York then you would have an ill conceivable Flight backcourt /bench…defensive..long and athletic to compliment the defensive nature and enough hops to bring some energy back to the Windy City..

  • http://www.nba.com Shadojoker

    Or free Ben Gordon..

  • http://www.slamonline.com Redd

Na hes with the Bobcats. Picking up Green will make our free agency bearable. The biggest miss was Roy, wish we would’ve went after Camby too. Or Allen we coulda got him. But honestly I’d take Green over Allen.

  • http://www.nba.com Shadojoker

Allen’s career is on his way down…Green is on his way up!! I agree
