Knicks Decline to Match Toronto Raptors’ Offer Sheet For Landry Fields

Their point guard situation is still up in the air, but the Knicks’ shooting guard situation appears set—they’ll be playing some combo of JR Smith and Iman Shumpert (when he gets healthy) at the 2 after officially letting Landry Fields sign with the Toronto Raptors, as the Toronto Sun reports: “Landry Fields is a Raptor. According to numerous reports emanating from New York City, the Knicks declined to match Toronto’s three-year, $19-million U.S. offer sheet on the restricted free agent. The Raptors would not confirm until the midnight ET deadline had passed. On Saturday afternoon, not yet aware whether or not Fields would become the newest member of the Raptors, head coach Dwane Casey and power forward Ed Davis made it clear they’d be happy to have him in the fold. Speaking about six hours before the New York Knicks had to make a call Casey said he hoped New York would let Fields walk. ‘If we’re fortunate enough to get him, he’s a guy that can defend multiple positions. He runs the floor, good shooter … he gives us another guy who can catch-and-shoot, space the floor,’ Casey said.”

This is smart for both parties, I think he would flourish with a Nash/Rubio type pg

So much for that song about winning a championship with the Knicks and being on the cover of Slam and sh*t.

Not a raptors fan but im glad Landy Fields is gonna be a Raptor. Hes going to help the team get better than last year. He fits in better with toronto as they needed a guy with his abilities. Anyway he wouldnt of played much for the knicks this season as Jr smith and iman would lock up that guard forward positions off the bench.

His sophomore season was drastically different than his rookie year. Perhaps that’s because the roster changed and it didn’t really suit him. Hopefully he can get back to playing to his full potential.

He’ll do well. Last year with melo being the ball stopper that he is kinda took everyone else out their game and comfort zone.

Most of these writers are from New York, so all they ever do is talk about the sorry franchise that is the Knicks. Truth, son… TRUTH!

Overpaid, yes, but can’t hate Colangelo trying to go in the way of a young, quick, athletic team these past couple of seasons rather than the “soft” Euro perimeter jumper focused team. Seems like each move takes them further from that weak rep.
