Knicks Will Reportedly Sign Jason Kidd to Multi-Year Deal

Though Steve Nash chose sunny Los Angeles, the Knicks still managed to sign a veteran point guard—a dude you might’ve heard of named Jason Kidd. According to ESPN, the Knicks will sign Kidd to a multi-year deal after the pg declined to accept a three-year deal offered by the Mavericks: “With the Mavericks confident that they were closing in Thursday on a verbal agreement on a three-year deal with Kidd worth $9 million, sources told ESPN.com that Kidd — after all-day deliberations with both teams — has decided instead to leave Dallas to join the Knicks for a similar deal. The contract can’t actually be signed until July 11, which is the first day new NBA contracts can be signed. It’s also possible, one source said, that Kidd could ultimately move to the Knicks in a sign-and-trade deal. Sources briefed on the matter told ESPN.com that Kidd was ultimately swayed to take the Knicks’ offer to come to New York and take on the challenge of trying to help the Knicks move into the Eastern Conference and also mentor fans darling’ Jeremy Lin.”

For $3 mil Knicks not giving up much to sign Kidd. Curious if he will accept backup role or tolerate the zoo that is NY. Kidd is the same clown who got Byrum Scott fired on championship-caliber team in NJ, yet the media gave him a pass. There is clearly a double-standard when it comes to the treatment of black coaches in the L.

shock exchange…. your message took a weird turn.

I only like this signing if Kidd’s role on the team is primarily mentoring whoever starts and holding things down in spells.
Would be a great mentor to J.Lin unfortunately looks like he’s going to be a Rocket.

Sigh. How does anybody know Iverson can play at an NBA level? He has been plagued by leg injuries, and hasn’t seen game speed action in quite some time. His stint in Turkey was mixed. He refuses to play in China like Marbury. It is funny how saying it is time to move on makes you an idiot. Lol.

What’s with ppl jumping on the age thing every chance they get? JK will be fine for the Knicks and will be able to help Melo and Amare settle down.

As far as Lin goes, this and next year will truly determine if it was Linsanity or the real deal.

j kidd might player better when the stakes are higher but i dont see him doing much of anything in an 82 game regular season

Whatever happened to Aaron Brooks? Why aren’t more teams showing interest in that dude?

Good Lord, Jeremy Lin is TRASH (as of now). He had an incredible run of not being on the scouting report for 8 games straight… As soon as a team decided to give him any respect on the defensive end, he buckled. His pick-and-roll game is a luck of the draw, and his lack of a left hand is astounding. If he signs back to the Knicks, he’ll have an incredible mentor in Kidd; he’s young and has a high ceiling. If he goes to Houston… Good Luck.
