Mickael Pietrus Prepared to ‘Move on’ from the Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics don’t have the minutes or money to make free agent forward Mickael Pietrus happy, and according to his agent, Pietrus is ready to find another employer. From the Boston Herald: “Ray Allen’s defection to Miami, and the likelihood that Avery Bradley will miss the first month of the season as he recovers from double shoulder surgery, triggered a run by Danny Ainge on guards. Thus the arrival of free agents Jason Terry and Courtney Lee. Keyon Dooling re-signed with the team Tuesday. Even Dionte Christmas, who has been given a partially guaranteed contract to stop him from going back to Europe, may get some early-season time in this backcourt scheme. And it could be that with the return of Jeff Green as Paul Pierce’s backup, Ainge doesn’t feel a pressing need for another small forward. The minutes may simply not be there for Pietrus, who has repeatedly expressed his desire to rejoin the team. Though the Celtics still haven’t spent their $1.9 million biannual exception, the team may simply put that tool back in the box. The roster, including Dooling and the recent addition of big man Jason Collins, is over the league maximum at 16. Guard Jamar Smith will be brought into training camp on a nonguaranteed contract. Pietrus, as a result, will continue to look elsewhere. One other NBA team, in particular, had expressed strong interest, certainly stronger than the Celtics. ‘We haven’t heard from (the Celtics), so we’ll move on,’ Pietrus’ agent Bill McKandless said. ‘I’m not surprised. If we hear from them, Mike will be thrilled, and if not then I guess that’s life in the big city.’ For a player as good as Pietrus, it may be difficult to find much daylight here. ‘Mike is fine,’ McKandless said. ‘He’s had a great career. He’s 30, so he’s in his prime. It’s not as if he’s 36.’”

I didnt think he fit well with Boston, he just isnt the same player he used to be. Hopefully he goes to a good team.

Minesota ofcourse, lots of minutes behind williams and broy who will either be injured soon or will need rest to prevent just that.

Watching in the playoffs was painful. C’s making some solid decisions. Dooling really came to play this past post season. When he’d pick up the other team’s pg full court, getting under their skin? Good signs for a solid bench guy. Glad the C’s recognized.

I thought MP played with good energy in Boston, but the results weren’t there. I thought he had his best years in Orlando…
