Pau Gasol Replaces Rafael Nadal as Spain’s Flag Bearer at Olympics

Rafa Nadal, the celebrated tennis pro, was forced to pull out of the Olympics due to a knee injury, and Pau Gasol has been named as his replacement to bear Spain’s flag at the Games’ opening ceremony. Per Reuters: “Los Angeles Lakers center Gasol is one of the country’s most recognized sportsmen and helped Spain win silver in Beijing four years ago, when they lost in the final to the United States. Sailing duo Iker Martinez and Xabi Fernandez had been in the running as well but they ruled themselves out so not to upset preparations for the July 27-August 12 Games.”

That’s pretty cool, does show that basketball as a sport is becoming more important Globally. It’s still a pity that half of the UK don’t have a clue who Luol Deng is.

Seed, that sounds like you used a translator…it’s correct Spanish, but it sounds formal, academic style.

That’s not formal style, that’s translators-never-makes-no-sense style, specially the BOOK IT=LIBRO TI part, that’s too funny lol. But appreciate the effort. I was sure it was going to be Pau from the moment Nadal pulled out, Gasol and Nadal are the most well-known spanish sportsmen in the world, along Fernando Alonso and football players, but these don’t go to the Olympics.
