Report: Chicago Bulls Trade Kyle Korver to Atlanta Hawks

Pending a physical, the Chicago Bulls will trade swingman Kyle Korver to the Atlanta Hawks. Terms of the deal are not yet known, but Chicago is reportedly going to recieve either a second-round draft pick (via the Minnesota Timberwolves) or guard Kirk Hinrich (via a sign-and-trade). From CBSSports.com: “The Bulls have already reportedly agreed to a deal with Hinrich and moved Korver to make room for him. The Hawks clearly aren’t content with a total rebuilding project and are looking to restructure the roster while remaining competitive. After signing Lou Williams, the Hawks have added a marksman in Korver who will space the floor and strengthen their bench. The Bulls had until Sunday to either guarantee Korver’s $5 million option for 2012-13 or waive him and pay Korver $500,000. Unloading him was probably necessary, but he’s played a big role for Chicago adding a shooter on the perimeter for Derrick Rose.”

Without Korver, the Bulls are doomed.

Another guy who can only shoot that the Heat have made impotent in the playoffs. Good move for Chi.

Is it just me or are the Bulls getting a tad worse with every move? Korver was a good piece but instead of getting rid of him why not try and go after a guy who can create his own shot?

As a Bulls fan this hurts..first Asik, now Korver..and we aren’t even getting better like going after any KEY free agents?? what’s going on!!! Korver was the bomb last year!!

  • Shifty

Yeah it’s gard to judge how well the bulls are goog to
Do this year……they haven’t really made any moves…..almost forget about them while all this stuff happens in te off season.

  • jayrose

I’m a bulls fan and I have no idea what the bulls are doing now. Paxson and Forman better be up to something.

  • phil da windmill

Fugg the Chicago Bullshi tters they fell off after mj and scottie retired. Derrick Rose cant do it alone.

Love seein fellow Bulls fans on these posts. Im scared man: Brewer, Asik, Korver; three very servicable role players, all gone. All we have to show for anything this summer is Marquis Teague. And we STILL have Boozer. WTF is goin on in the Chi…..

NO Bulls fan should get pissed if Rose decide to leave one day because if the bulls continue to be cheap an choose finance over Rings, he has an excuse. These dudes don’t look committed to actually winning IMO.

  • ThaWindy

I’m happy to see korver go. Can’t play d and wasnt that clutch for a person who can only shoot. Not happy about Hinrich..

  • lp

As bulls fan,I saw this coming after the rose injury…. this year won’t be great… we can’t get stuck being in the middle of the pack…take a year off, and reload…get a decent draft pick next year…be patient, guys, our window is temporarily closed… also, korver is NOT CLUTCH. he got better last year, but he isn’t what we need just yet

  • FnF

Korver curling off of a down screen was simply a great play. Either he knocked down the shot or touch-passed to the screener. Oh well Bulls fans.

This year is gonna suck for sure..unless Rip stays healthy or we get a Gerald Green type of swingman to compliment Deng,And boozer..if not the Bench Mob is gonna suck COMPLETELY!!!

  • drock

Agreed Drock. Man it’s a bad time to be a Bulls fan. But hey it was nice while it lasted! Lol jk it should be an ok season.

  • http://www.nba.com Shadojoker

Bulls will still make the playoffs easily

All you Bulls fans whining about how bad it is (not you Redd), tell it to the fans of Orlando, Houston, Phoenix, Cleveland, Dallas, Boston, and Atlanta. Bulls will still be a top 3 seed in the East and you’re complaining that your roster sucks? Spoiled.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Redd

Personally I love basketball I watch all the Bulls games but I still remember its only a sport. With that said, I agree caboose the Bulls will be great but it’s discouraging how Bulls ownership is very uncreative in FA. But again we’re lucky and we’ll be in playoffs with Rose so it’ll be fun.

I will be looking forward for Shabazzzzz in next years draft. Yes, Bulls will probably still get into the playoffs but I doubt If they can beat the Heat, Celtics, Knicks and boston…. I just hope they suck so they rebuild again and again and again

  • l2ising Phoenix

Lol , bulls suck tremendously. The infamous rise and fall , hoping the best for Rose but the bulls are just horrible management and roster wise. This is their only move of the offseason? They need a shakeup or they could very possibly miss the playoffs .

  • http://www.slamonline.com Redd

I a agree with the management part but they aren’t done yet. The Gasol rumor just came back alive.

  • http://www.slamonline.com SLick Ric

We want to win, not be a top three team. That means nothing at all.

Wow Redd, I condone your maturity. I thought I was in for an ‘typical Knicks fan’ attack, back on topic I haven’t heard of the Gasol to chi rumors arise again. Sources?

The Hinrich signing/trade gives them a good defender, adequate shooter, and a starter at the point until Rose comes back. When Rose does come back they can slide him over to the 2 or play him as Rose’s back-up. He can defend 3 positions and can knock down the occasional 3. Korver was mostly a money sink and needed to be moved. What the Bulls need at the 2 is someone that can create his own shot. Richard Hamilton can do this, but his health still worries me. With the money saved from the Korver deal maybe the Bulls can land a player like O.J. Mayo? Asik is nothing more than a defensive center with limited offensive game. What the Rockets are willing to pay him is far too much for the Bulls (especially with Noah already on the books for 60 million). Not matching that ludicrous offer sheet will be the best move the Bulls can make this off season. What the Bulls need to focus on is next year when Taj Gibson will need to be extended, and Rose will be back for a full year. Don’t overpay for a center with limited offensive game, but pay for the young up and coming Power Forward to play alongside Noah for the next 5 years. It would also allow the Bulls to amnesty Boozer next year if they can ink Gibson to a long term deal thus saving them even more money. And with the first round draft pick due to them from the Bobcats (for the terrible Tyrus Thomas) they will have another lottery pick in 1 to 3 years to add to this team. Not to mention Nikola Mirotic coming to the team in the next 2 or 3 years. I think the Bulls are in good shape if you ask me.
