Report: Derrick Rose Likely Out Until March

A month ago, the Chicago Bulls were saying that former MVP Derrick Rose, who underwent surgery to repair his torn left ACL in May, was “ahead of schedule” in his rehab. Today, however, the Chicago Tribune is reporting that Rose might be miss the majority of the upcoming season. CBS Sports has the details: “The Chicago Tribune reports, in the midst of an in-depth analysis of whether the Bulls’ moves are financially-based or basketball-driven, that Derrick Rose is ‘out until likely March.’ Kaboom. Reports in May had targeted an early January return for Rose, but March is more consistent with the tentative-12-months prognosis often given to ACL injuries. There’s no way to be sure, though. Rose could bust through rehab and make it back by January. He could have setbacks and miss the entire year. It’s a long and difficult process with steps along the way, but all of them have to go right for him to hit the optimistic end. And updated projection two months later of March is not a good sign.”

Baron Davis tore his acl either in college or sometime early in his career and he still had his athleticism…..he even entered the dunk contest the first year Jason richardson won so Its not crazy to think he’ll still be very athletic if he does what he’s suppose to do with rehabilitation. He’s more athletic than BD was as well so its possible he’ll still have most of his athleticism.

    Hello?

  • ALD

hopefully drose comes back smarter… cp3 had a bad injury, came back slower but is still one of the best pg’s in the lg. Its up in the air but hope for the best.

I guess real nbk is right. But Chicago is flyover country. One good decade doesn’t mean anything compared to teams like the Lakers and Celtics.

We aren’t talking about the Chicago Bulls fake nbk, rather just the place itself. @real nbk wow thats crazy but as far as a city goes I’d say Chicago wins out but Indiana as a state clearly is crazy. And an injury doesn’t ALWAYS negate to the same aftermath. Maybe D. Rose will be different.

I meant the cities but used the teams as a metaphor. That is real interesting actually real nbk. Indiana is better than Chicago barely. But the troll that said it’s flyover country is nuts

    Trollception is what this is..

Damn. I meant I think the troll was using that as a metaphor. I’m having some trouble organizing my thoughts. It’s late where I am.

With the first pick the Chicago Bulls select….. Shabazz Muhammad!

  • http://www.slamonline.com Redd

Shabazz would be nice, but idk if people see him as a #1 pick.

If im running the Bulls I dont let Derrick see the floor this season at all. They need to do what the Spurs did in the 96-97 season when D-Rob got hurt. Tank the season, get a high draft pick (maybe #1) and just wait for Derrick to come back next season

D Rose, stay strong pimp, come backhand these ni99as when you return.

  • http://slam flight9

Yes, don’t let him play this season and get Shabazz next year!!! With their line-up they aren’t going anywhere anyway.

  • jerald

I thank rose will come back just as good and in a couple of year s the bulls will beat the heat

  • http://www.slamonline.com Redd

    Well Bulls just signed Belinelli..

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

The Bulls are not gonna be good but they aren’t going to be one of the worst teams in the league. They will probably still make the playoffs for real.

    sadly..

I really loved Derrick Rose’s game since the first time I saw him play. But the first question that popped in my mind was: ‘what is the longevity of this style of play?’ Now I ask you, do you think that this style of play can be sustained for many years? I think modern training methods allow more people to perform at a higher athleticism level, but there are limits to what bodies can recover from and an injury while playing harder is more dangerous. Do you think this is the case or am I way off the mark?

Bulls will be fine, Lebron needs to thank D.Rose for getting hurt or he gets no ringy for his fingy. Now The world is going crazy like Lebron is so great now, really, he can’t shoot, had to shoot only lay ups to score, shoot awfully unless in the paint. OKC should have played zone and KD is playing better in the Olympics than in the NBA Finals-choker.

  • Van Harvey

KD was not a choker, it was just Russ was a ballhog.

dont see lebron james as a one dimensional player or durant as a choker. the heat had just more experience and took advantage of it during the finals. the thunder hopefully learned from their finals shortcoming and attack at full force this season. about rose: i think that he will be fine as long as he takes enough time to recover which he seems to do. i think it would be too early for him to change his game already, he can do that when he comes closer to the 30yr mark. and for the bulls, tanking should be a good idea to add a lottery pick to the mix in 13/14 when theyll also have more cap fleexibility to add one more piece. they will be a scaringly good team then (which they were already last season even with rose out)

Don’t respond to the Seed man. That dude is loony.
He said LeBron wouldn’t beat the Bulls a couple years back. The Heat won in five.
He said the Heat wouldn’t win anything this year. They did.
So, all of his theories about how LeBron can’t do this, or can’t do that have no weight. He’s just talking because he hates LeBron. It’s ok Kobe fans, LeBron still has quite a bit to do before most people believe he’s better than Kobe for their entire careers. You can rest easy knowing that it’s unlikely that LeBron will ever have a player on the same level as Shaq, so it’s unlikely he pumps out three championships in a row.
Kobe’s legacy is still pretty safe. No need to hate.
