Report: Steve Novak To Re-Sign With Knicks

According to TNT’s David Aldridge, New York Knicks forward Steve Novak will re-sign with the team on a fully-guaranteed, four-year, $15 million deal.

    15 Mil??? I think that’s WAY too much. Yea, son is deadly from 3-point range, but he can’t create his own shot. And did you see how teams began to shadow him once word got out about his range? He was crazy ineffective. Glad to see him back, but I don’t like the price.

    the knicks stay losing. yeah, he’s a killer when he is wide open with his feet set but so is jason kapono and james jones (i.e. vet min guys). in the playoffs, when miami had time to prepare for him, wade didn’t even let him get a shot off. he would literally fold in half in the corner with the ball tucked on his belly looking for a teammate. sh– was so sad.

    O, if word wasn’t out about his range before hand then the scouts have major issues. Novak is in the L for 1 reason and 1 reason only. To catch, shoot, and make 3 point shots.
    With that said, 15 million is steeeeep. He is worth no more than 2.5 mill a season. Whatev’s.

    I have no idea what these morons are commenting about. He didn’t do nothing in the playoffs, they locked him down, the scouting report stopped him. He had a total of 5 shots the whole playoffs because melo shot every shot and he didn’t get involved. The best shooter in the league is making 3.7 million a year and their complaining. Everybody shouldn’t be able to comment!

    That’s how much shooters are getting paid??? If so, my cousin Allan Ray will take that in a heart beat and he can actually dribble too!

    phil the thrill – he can’t shoot on the move and he can’t create his shot off the dribble. jason kapono had a year with miami when he hit more than half his 3s… so what? the reason why he only took 7 threes vs. miami is that there was a guy closing out on him whenever he touched the ball. he can’t make the kind of 3s battier and miller were making for miami in the playoffs (people jumping at you with a hand in your face). to me, a guy who can only make 3s when he is wide open with his feet set and does absolutely nothing else on the court is a vet min guy.

    Remember reading a while back that Kevin Pittsnoggle is a middle school in WV teacher these days. Maybe not so fair to Novak but the lasting image I have of him is of Bron and the Miami defense closing on him in the corner when he thought he was WIDE open and he ends up gobbling the ball, not knowing what else to do with it.

    what’s the difference between novak and james jones, matt caroll, jason kapono or matt bonner? novak averaged 2.0 rbs, 0.2 asts, 0.2 blks and 0.2 stls. in 7 seasons in the nba, he has attempted 72 free throws. he may very well be the worst defender in the NBA at the 3 and 4 spots. why do you need to lock a guy like that for 4 years?

    There’s nothing wrong with locking him up for 4 years… Just don’t do it for more than 10 mill tops.

    $3.5/yr is decent for Novak. It’s a little on the high side, but he helps make room inside. He’s also a huge fan favourite, and that’s worth something too. Besides, all the off-court revenue Lin generates will easily cover any costs associated with slightly overpaying role players.

    holy sh*t is he overpaid. You are going to pay a guy almost 4Mil a year to maybe play 20MPG. Assuming someone gets injured that is. If nobody gets hurt, you just signed a bench player for what is equal to the mini mid level exception.

    Knicks should’ve offered Novak 2 mill a year for 4 years cause let’s be real, all he does is shoot when WIDE open. If a dude is 7 feet away he’ll pass the ball. Now, if son can become an actual catch and shoot with people around him kind of player, and still have a high percentage from downtown, then this contract will be justified (kinda). If not, the Knicks made yet another horrible decision. But hey, that’s who the Knicks are. The “Can’t Get Right” team…

    A bit overpaid but Novak will make them win some regular season game, that’s for sure. Come playoff time, he’ll be locked down by half-court defense..I love the knicks and I’m gld to see him bacl next year. Good move for the balance of the team. We keep the core with kidd in addition.. it’s not a bad offseason ! no ?
