Spurs to Re-Sign Danny Green for 3 Years, $12 Million

San Antonio’s $12 million offer over the next three seasons made it clear to free agent Danny Green that the Spurs were the only franchise for him this summer. Per the Express-News: “Green’s agent, Bill Duffy, confirmed a report, first posted on SI.com, that Green had agreed to a contract worth $12 million, fully guaranteed, over its three-year span. The 25-year-old swing man from University of North Carolina played last season for the NBA veteran minimum of $854,389. ‘Obviously, re-signing Danny became a priority to R.C. (Spurs general manager R.C. Buford) and Pop (head coach and president of basketball Gregg Popovich). They demonstrated an immediate interest in getting a deal done. There were a couple other suitors and quite frankly we didn’t go very far down the runway with them.’ Green played in all 66 games, starting 38 at shooting guard after veteran Manu Ginobili suffered a fractured fifth metacarpal in the fifth game of the lockout-shortened season.”
