Washington Wizards to Waive Andray Blatche

The move was certainly not unexpected, but still, it remains a cause of celebration for Washingotn Wizards fans. The Andray Blatche Era has come to an end in DC, reports the WaPo: “In a move that will solidify the Wizards’ desires to separate from an embarrassing period in franchise history, the team has decided to designate Andray Blatche as its amnesty player, according to a league source with knowledge of the situation. The Wizards had until Tuesday to make the decision and an official announcement is expected to come later in the day. The Wizards will give Blatche the $23 million remaining on his contract to go away, ending a seven-year relationship that began when they drafted him 49th overall in 2005. [...] Blatche becomes the sixth player to get waived this month under the amnesty provision, which allows teams to cut a player and have their salary removed from the books. He will receive his money over the same three-year period, but he will stand the chance to earn more money if he clears waivers in the next 48 hours.”

he seems so full of potential and loves the game but appears not professional about it. maybe just his aloof style. reminds me of bynam, good but lazy. think he used to party a little bit too much around town. wish him luck!

  • Oli

is any team going to bid on him?

I would like to see Blatche on the Spurs. If anybody could transform Blatche it’s Gregg Popovich……or just to see if Popovich would strangle Blatche on the court during a timeout. Either way it would be a win-win

No, Pop would just Jedi-trick Blatche. This is not the shot selection you’re looking for.

I feel bad for the guy. He never really got a chance to show what he can do. The powers that be just had it out for this young Black man trying to do something positive…LOL
    Lazy bass turd.

Young but not fore long ,ten years from now he will regret his lack of love for the game. When you are an athlete you must take care of your body and your mind both can leave at the blink of an eye.

Blatche has the potential to be the next Dirk Nowitzki. I dont understand why the wizards would break up their future all star pairing of he an Wall.

I really hate to do this but … certain people have argued with the Shock Exchange that it is better to get on the job training in the NBA than to let the NCAA earn $ billions off you for free. Blatche was the proverbial double-threat – the NCAA didn’t earn $$ off of him and neither did the Wizards.

Meanwhile at Krispy Kreme Eddy Curry was quoted saying, “No, you good!”

He is a talented player. Somebody will take a chance on him.

Wall is now the most tenured Wizard. New owner. New face-of-the-franchise. Clean slate. Ted and Ernie did just what John told them to do. Can’t wait to see Blatche play against them.

Im happy for you, Abe. You’ve been wanting this for a grip.
