Brooklyn Nets Sign Donte Greene

Free agent Donte Greene has agreed to a contract with the Brooklyn Nets. Until now, Greene spent his entire four-year NBA career with the Sacramento Kings. In 53 games last year, the rangy small forward averaged 5.4 points and 2.5 rebounds in 14.7 minutes per game. More details, via the New York Post: “The 6-foot-11 forward tweeted, ‘HELLO BROOKLYN’ along with a picture of the Nets logo inside the team’s facility in Brooklyn yesterday. That came shortly after Yahoo! Sports reported the Nets had agreed in principle with Greene. A league source said the deal will be non-guaranteed. Greene’s agent, Chris Luchey, told The Post it was premature to say a deal had been signed, but that all signs point to Greene officially joining the Nets in the near future. Greene will be the eighth new player — out of 14 currently on the roster — to join the team since last season ended. When the move is completed, Greene will give the Nets a young, viable small forward to play behind Gerald Wallace. Backup small forward was one of two remaining areas of need on the roster, along with backup center.”

Maaan, Donte Greene can seriously score. I remember seeing him in Summer League, and he had no problem offensively (then my Rockets traded him for Ron Artest after Greene’s 40pt game haha). I watched him a bunch of times on that Kings squad as a rookie, and a few times last year, but he hasn’t taken that ‘leap’. His only problem is, um, everything else in his game. Like Charlie Villanueva. Purely ‘just’ scoring will only get you so far.
    Serious sleeper though.

CoSign ALD.. Its a shame I thought Donte Green was going to be a really good pro I mean he is a 6’11 3 or 4… I thought his career would have been way better but thats what happens when you get drafted by a team thats loaded at one position..

he is gonna do good for the nets out in sacramento he was surrounded with a bunch of players who want to shine individually now he is on a team that is focused on winning he is gonna get a ton of open looks and trust he gonna knock em down this should be his break out year

Donte has always ben a high character guy. With a team that is this good he will have a chance to grow into a much better player. He never really got a chance to play a lot in Sactown even though he should have. Ha can get up too. One of the best in game dunks I have witnessed in person was a Donte green dunk.

Donte still has plenty of room to grow. Joe and crash will be good for him.

Good pick up by Brooklyn. Happy for Greene as well, hopefully this is a great career move for him because with the Kings he never really had much opportunity.

I’m a kings fan but I will say the reason he never took that next step was due to the management. They just can’t develop players the way top contenders can. Look at Tyreke for example. 20/5/5 his rookie year and since then? Far from making any progress

Dude should have stayed in college, taken that leap, and came out BALLING! Instead, he has spent the last few years trying to find his spot while working on his game and learning the game at the same time AND at the NBA level. Not an easy task..

I’m really liking what King is doing addressing the pf position. We have so much versatility now when 2 months ago we only had Wedgie signed. The only thing missing is a back-up for Brook. He needs a tough big to go up against in scrimmage, and give him some relief minutes.

There isn’t much available. Darko might be too big a gamble.
