Carlos Delfino, Houston Rockets Agree on One-Year Deal


Free agent forward Carlos Delfino, who played the last three seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks, has reportedly agreed to a one-year contract with the Houston Rockets. The 6-6 swingman is coming off the London Olympics, where he averaged 15.3 points and helped Argentina finish fourth. Via ESPN.com: “Delfino also played on Argentina’s gold-medal winning team in Athens in 2004 and the bronze-medal team in Beijing 2008. He averaged 11.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 32.5 minutes in 2010-11, his most productive NBA season.”

    Peanuts or a 1st round pick. that would be my guess. – not a good one, but one nonetheless. maybe from a fringe playoff team, like Phoenix if they are in the 7-10 in the West zone. I know Shannon Brown isn’t a long term option there and they are looking to shore up the position. If Harden gets signed in OKC, I can really see them pursuing Martin.

    i could be wrong Teddy, that’s just the vibe i’m getting. and if i remember correctly, there was an issue between Martin and McHale last year anyway? So yea, that also has me believing he’s on his way out.

    As an h-town born rockets fan, I have to see this as a prelude to shipping Martin. Martin doesn’t fit in with what morey wants to do (youth movement, cutting salary, lots of minutes to see if lamb can develop) and he doesn’t fit in with what Mchale preaches either(he’s statistically in the bottom 5% of SGs defensively).

    Martin has way more value as an expiring contract/designated gunner than he does to the rockets. I’d be shocked if he’s not gone before camp. Delfino makes way more sense economically as a short term contract guy to split minutes with parsons and lamb at the 2/3.

    My Rockets stay winning. I like Delfino personally, but it shows that the team is headed in no particular direction, and they’re going there as slowly as they please.
