Derrick Favors Wants More Playing Time Next Year

Jazz forward Derrick Favors, who is quickly approaching his third NBA season, is looking to take a big step forward next year. Favors is a former No. 3 pick in the NBA Draft, but was often a victim of Utah’s crowded frontcourt rotation during his first two years. After a strong playoff series against the Spurs, in which he averaged 29.0 minutes, 11.8 points, 9.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks, Favors hopes—expects, desires—more playing time next year. Via DesertNews.com: “He literally wants his time to get here sooner rather than later. ‘I want to play more than what I played last year,’ Favors admitted. ‘If it’s starting, cool. If it’s coming off the bench, cool. I don’t mind. I just want to play more. I don’t want to sit on the bench no more.’ That’s where Corbin’s tough choice comes into play.”

Not going to get it over Jefferson or Milsap.

You wanna play more, earn it. Favors has the potential to put in work, but he looks lazy at times to me. Let’s see if his hunger to play more translates to his effort when he’s in the game.

I’m with KHoliday, I’m tired of people crying over what they want. If you put in enough work and show great leaps in production on the court, the coach has no choice but to play you. But if he can’t outwork those in front of him, then he’s in trouble.

He wants to play more to earn a more lucrative contract. Too lazy. Don’t put his name in the same line that Ibaka.

Ibaka ain’t ahead of him like that…don’t give him too much credit now

Derrick “party” favors is a real cool dude.

the reason he didn’t play more has nothing to do with effort. It has to do with the traffic jam of bigs on the Jazz roster. That team needs to purge themselves of Al Jefferson ASAP.
