Josh Harrellson Works Out For Miami Heat

Free agent forward Josh Harrellson, who was waived by the Houston Rockets earlier this month, has worked out for the Miami Heat. With one roster spot still open, it’s believed Miami will bring in a big man to help improve its frontcourt. Via ESPN.com: “Harrellson averaged 4.4 points and 3.9 rebounds while shooting 33.9 percent from downtown last season as a reserve big man for the Knicks before being traded this offseason to the Rockets in a package for center Marcus Camby. A rare rebounding big man who can stretch the floor, Harrellson joined Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love and Milwaukee Bucks forward Ersan Ilyasova as the only qualified players last season to average over nine rebounds and make at least one 3-pointer per 36 minutes on the floor. Though he lacked the height of a traditional center, Harrellson primarily backed up Knicks center Tyson Chandler last season. After signing 3-point shooting wings Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis, Miami is aiming to fortify its front line that consists of Chris Bosh, Joel Anthony, Dexter Pittman and Udonis Haslem.”

@ MUBWAR and Hursty, Y’all probably caught glimpses of him playing for UK when he went toe-to-toe with Jared Sullinger in Kentucky’s upset of then #1 OSU in the Sweet 16 of 2011. Although he’s undersized, he’s scrappy, and has a nice jumper. I think he can find his niche in Miami.

    NO! NOT JORTS!!!

I remember him from March Madness. Very solid, with his bodyframe you don’t get this far without fundamentals:)

I heard Chris Andersen is being considered by the Miami Heat as well..

He was tough and banged with the big men when on the court with Amere who was too fragile to defend. Chris Anderson would be a great fit for the Heat.

Solid pick up if they nab him. I’m suprised Scal wan’t in the 9+ rebounds and 1 3 pointer per 36 mins category. Doods a baller, shot caller.

Isn’t this the guy who co-starred in White Men Can’t Jump with Wesley Snipes and Rosie Perez?

  • MikeC.

I liked his attitude on the Knicks last year. He mixed it up, played his role and didn’t try to do things he couldn’t. Perfect fit for a 3rd big man.

Darko is taller, a better scorer and a better shotblocker. sign darko (i never thought i’d say it)

If u r a hoop head then u have watched UK since Cal took helm, at the very least. Thus a hoop head would know of Harrellson.

I think Miami picks him up this could be the break he’s been waiting for.
