Paul Pierce Keeping Options Open in Possible Final Season With Celtics

Paul Pierce doesn’t know what the future holds for him and the Boston Celtics past this upcoming season, in what could be his last year in Beantown. Per the Boston Globe: “This season may be Pierce’s final year in Boston. He has one year on his contract with a team option for 2013-14. He said he has no plans of asking for an extension since Kevin Garnett, Jason Terry and Brandon Bass are signed to three-year deals. ‘I think I am going to play this one out,’ he said. ‘I want to see what it feels like to be a free agent for once in my life. I think I am going to play this one out. A lot can change in two years. My body [may not] be where I want it to be, I could retire, a lot of things could happen. I love the game. I made as much money as I possibly can. It’s about winning a championship and if I feel like it’s the right thing to do, maybe so [come back]. If I solidify my third year, maybe they opt out, so it’s about keeping your options open.’ [...] If he’s uncomfortable with the team option?: ‘Not at all. I mean if they don’t want me back, I feel like I’m good enough and I’ll be wanted by a lot of teams. I’m coming into this year and I just made another all-star team at 34. So I’m still feel like I’m playing at a great level.’”

He should retire a Celtic. Very rare these days a player goes an entire career with one team.

Retiring a celtic would be a great bow out for him… He isn’t saying how much he believes in legacy & staying with one squad would book his & I think danny is the type that believes in legacy also & has a lot of loyalty towards paul since he could’ve gotten frustrated just like the typical superstar & bolted instead of holding the c’s down… I see danny giving him 1yr 2yr deals until paul is satisfied… there will NEVER be a point when the celtics feel they need to move on… Fk outta here

Paul Pierce should sign a contract to finish with KG, then from their he can play out his career as a player. Pierce should just retire as a Celtic, it would not look good to see him in a Clipper jersey.

Much ado about nothing right now, especially since it’s a team option. Only way they don’t pick it up is to instead offer a 2-year deal at a reduced per-year rate but more overall $$$ than just 1-year…

He’s not going any where unless Danny Ainge forces it to happen. He basically traded Ray to Memphis and was working to send Pierce to NJ.

How can you afford to lose a top 10 Celtics of all time…. He should retire in Beantown and I’m almost certain he will

@T-Money- Exactly, he just was a “little bitter” about Ray Ray.
