Polladaday: Nash’s Future?

Steve Nash is 38 years old, and claims he feels great and can keep playing at a high rate for a while longer. The question is: how much longer?

How many more seasons will Steve Nash play for?

Depends on how long he can still perform at a high level

  • James Aka…

I would say that given his commitment to physical fitness, and his very long and very gradual decline, it may end suddenly with a major injury like it did for Karl Malone. In other words, the precarious balance between his athleticism and a sudden stop are the magic variable that we can’t know about, so it makes it hard to answer. Assuming though that he gets to end it on his own, I think he’ll finish this contract and perhaps 2 more years afterwards. There will be a point that his age and natural lack of explosive athleticism will be such a glaring problem that his lack of defense will be matched by being totally shut down on offence by younger quicker men like westbrook.
