Vernon Macklin Signs With Turkish Team Gaziantep

Free agent forward Vernon Macklin, who was a second-round draft pick of the Detroit Pistons last year, will take his talents overseas, signing with Turkish team Gaziantep BSB. During his rookie season in the NBA, Macklin spent time with both the Pistons and their D-League affiliate Fort Wayne Mad Ants. In 22 games with the Pistons, the big man averaged 2 points and 1.4 rebounds. This was a tough decision for Joe Dumars and his staff, as Macklin played with the team in the Orlando Summer League despite not being under contract. But ultimately, with an already loaded frontcourt, there wasn’t enough room to keep him on the roster.

I’ve been to Antep. He’s going to have some cultural adjustments, I’ll put it that way.
