Atlanta Hawks Sign Second-Round Draft Pick Mike Scott

The Atlanta Hawks have signed second-round draft pick Mike Scott to a two-year, partially-guaranteed contract. Scott, a 6-8 forward from the University of Virginia, earned First Team All-ACC honors as a senior, averaging 18 points and 8 rebounds per game. Via InsideHoops.com: “Scott was selected by Atlanta in the second round (43rd overall) of the 2012 NBA Draft. According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, ‘Scott signed a two-year contract for the minimum salary that includes some guarantees, according to Hawks GM Danny Ferry. The minimum salary for 2012-13 is $473,604. ‘Mike will be on the team this year,’ Ferry wrote in a text message.’ He ranks third University of Virginia history in rebounds (944) and double-doubles (34), while finishing 16th in points scored (1,538). He will wear number 32.”

Congratulations Mike Scott. I definitely enjoyed watching him play at Virginia. He’s a great team player.

I hope he’s not going to take Ivan Johnson’s roster spot.

This wouldn’t have happened without Dany Ferry. He is my hero son! Hawks never want to work with questionable talent; they have a HORRIBLE eye for potential. Like with Jordan Crawford. Now Crawford is forced to waste his talent up in Washington just like John Wall. Crawford should be star status. Now that we have Danny Ferry, he saw the potential that I saw in Mike Scott. Hopefully he will be a great addition. If he MAN’S UP, he could play the 3 position (SF). GO HAWKS!!
