Chris Bosh Says the Miami Heat are Trying to Create a Dynasty

Though the abdominal strain he suffered during last season’s Playoffs nearly ruined everything for Chris Bosh and the Miami Heat, Bosh feels that the injury is completely behind him now. The focus going forward, Bosh says, is trying to create a dynasty in South Beach. From the AP: “The abdominal injury that nearly ended his season – and probably would have doomed Miami’s title chances – is behind him now, Bosh said. But when things looked most bleak, when the Heat lost two straight games to the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference semifinals after he got hurt, Bosh was preparing himself for a long offseason without a championship to savor. ‘I thought it was over,’ Bosh said. ‘I didn’t want to fully emotionally invest myself anymore because I didn’t want to get hurt like last year when we lost the finals. I kind of had a letdown. I’m not going to lie. I was defeated. And then my wife came to me and said, ‘You know, you said things were going to look bad, but you have to keep going.’ [...] The biggest key for him now is not feeling the same sort of pain he felt when he got hurt while dunking in Game 1 of the second-round series with Indiana. It’s been his biggest priority this summer, and will stay that way. ‘It’s behind me. But I still have to pay attention to stretching and strengthening all the muscles in the core around it and everything,’ Bosh said. ‘It’s something that I just can’t forget about. I’m not sure if I can re-aggravate it but I’m sure, just like anything, it has the potential to be chronic. If we stay on top of it and continue to do the proper treatment, proper stretching and proper strengthening, I don’t see it being an issue.’ [...] ‘Winning a championship is only the beginning for this group, and we have to look at it that way,’ Bosh said. ‘We have to look at it as we’re trying to have a dynasty. I think that’s the next thing. The only way you can do that is to have more than one championship. I look at it as a five- to six-year increment, where we’re trying to win as many as possible.’”

    That was obvious…. “not 1, not 2, nor 3, not 4, not 5…”

  • LakeShow

Oh really? Never woulda guessed that the best player in the world, 2nd best SG in the L, and a top 5 PF all in their prime would be interested in creating a dynasty… Shocking news coming outta south beach.

  • Darrrin

    News to me.

  • Sandra

    Shocker.

  • roscoe

I really don’t have an issue w/ Bosh claiming his or his teams goals. Its healthy and his comments seem sincere to me.

Not sure it will happen imo.

    *best SG in the L.

  • LakeShow

This ain’t Wikipedia…Just to reiterate: BEST SHOOTING GUARD IN THE LEAGUE

  • MUBWAR

    word we didn’t know that

  • Conor

Broken Nose Kobe took him to the park. If they ever play in the Finals, Bryant will bust him like Jordan did Drexler.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

lol, oh yeah? that regular season match up really proves your point does it?
    .
Honestly, Kobe fan boys reacting to something like saying Wade is a better player (he’s been performing better for 3 years now) with – Kobe will bust him like Jordan did to Drexler is the saddest argument there is. Come on, stop comparing what Kobe does/did to what Michael does/did – they aren’t related. Kobe has never destroyed another wing player like Jordan did to Drexler, Ehlo, eventually Dumars, and others. Never. So no, that wouldn’t happen.

  • Conor

It does. Ultimately, you hate him too much (irrationally) and I respect him too much (though I do acknowledge his selfish flaws). We’re like The Joker & Batman, respectively, in a basketball context.

Similes aside, Wade has outperformed Bryant once in their careers, and that was in 2008-2009. As for the Drexler-Jordan comparison… you will see in June 2013.

Paul Pierce is better than the three that you listed, and Ginobli is more talented than all but Drexler.

    Let the confidence spray everywhere!

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

it doesn’t, regular season matchups don’t prove jack shit about anything other than who was better on that one day. If single games in the regular season mattered, they wouldn’t have series in the playoffs.
    .
And Bryant didn’t destroy Pierce or Ginobili. I never said he hasn’t outperformed people, your issue is reading.
    .
And I am a Kobe fan, as many people in here know. I’m just not unrealistic about how good he is.
    .
And Wade has been better than Kobe Bryant every year since 2009
    .
Last season Kobe scored 5 more points, slightly more than 2 points more per 36 minutes…..except Wade shot 50% from the floor, while Kobe shot 43% (and Wade had a better effective FG% – which takes into account free throw shooting and three point shooting, so that argument is also dead on arrival)
    - Wade put up more assists and rebounds
    - a higher PER
    - a better offensive rating
    - a better defensive rating
    - he had more offensive win shares
    - he had more defensive win shares
    - more blocks
    - more steals
    .
And guess what – All of those FACTS are true dating back to 2009.

  • Conor

You record the advanced statistics while I watch the actual games.

  • LakeShow

Except for the ones that aren’t facts.
    Bryant rebounded more last year.
Bryant had as many assists the last two seasons.
Bryant has shot better from 3 EVERY year.
Bryant is the better FT shooter EVERY year.
It’s arguable, but I’ll take Kobe still. And so would the majority of people. Whether or not it’s fact to you… that’s the way it is.

  • 23

However you rank him, am I the only one who.was extremely disappointed, disgusted and unimpressed with Wades performance last season? Both playoffs and reg season. very sloppy in the finals at times.

  • Datkid

    Dwayne Wade? Yes he is.

  • Datkid

guess you’ve watched Kobe shoot his team out of numerous games then.

  • Datkid

Wade is still more efficient and a better defender. and he’s younger. AND broken nose game aside he regularly cooks, or outperforms kobe. this isn’t a real argument.

  • Datkid

You go to the finals twice and you ARE a dynasty.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

My mistake on the rebounds and assists, I was lookin at per 36 minute numbers (and still got rebounds wrong). .
I mentioned ft shooting and 3pt shooting as being in Bryant’s favor, but Effective fg% being in Wade’s .
The majority of people are casual fans. These are the same people who thinks MVP means best player, the same people that put Allen Iverson as a starter on the all star team despite him falling off of a cliff as a player. Most “enthusiasts” are in the Wade is better camp. And have been. The difference between the two is a tangible argument.
    - Wade is better in, tangible ways (ways you can see and prove).
    - Kobe is better in, Intangible ways (ways you can only try and describe). .Basically

Its not going to happen though………………

Legacy wise Kobe is and will be better than Wade. And i am A HUGE Wade enthusiast. but RIGHT NOW since 2008 olympics til this day Dwyane has been the best SG in the league and arguably the best player in the league up until this year when LeBron finally made up for losing us the finals. I respect and love Kobe tho. That said Mj, Kobe & Dwyane are the top 3 SG of all time(in that order) Wade is the best slasher to ever play the game tho. Point being I think that Wade will bounce back from last season and i wouldnt quite call 22 ppg in the Season & Playoffs on a bad knee “a sloppy season” he was much better in the Finals this year with his bad Knee than LeBron was last year when he “checked out” against Dallas.

Lastly i dont think Kobe has ever played as good an NBA Finals as Wade did in 2006 or in 2011… not that it really matters.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

He was hurt. And it got progressively worse until he got surgery a week after the finals.

  • i AN LEGEND

The only person this must be news to is Bosh himself

  • nick

nbk, I appreciate the thought and time you put into your posts after someone starts talking! U da mann

On another note: Scottie Pippen has basketball ique, and I agree with him 100%. After looking at the way LeBron James handled last year’s NBA season and the pressure of the playoff, I would say LeBron James did something no “resent” NBA player did. Am a true fan of: MJ, Larry Bird, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Bill Russell, Magic Johnson, the Dream Hakeem, the Kobe “Black Mamba” (the Greatest offensive “Demon” unstoppable) but King James have a completeness none of the above has.

Haven’t we been over this? There aren’t many people on earth who watch more basketball than I do. — I don’t just watch one team, like you do, but I see plenty of everyone to know I’m not just giving a stat based opinion. The stats just support my argument…..normally because they make more sense than an opinion would….you know….because it’s an opinion, and we all have one of those, they don’t win arguments or make people special.

Doesn’t really matter you are comparing a second fiddle to the main guy. Of course D-Wade will have a better shooting percentage because TWO OF THE DEFENDERS ARE ON LEBRON. Of course he will have more assists HE HAS LEBRON. An assist from Wade is basically throw it anywhere within 5 feet of the basket and Lebron will alley-oop it. Wade is not as good as Kobe and Kobe also has another 7 years on him. It’s like comparing Kanye to Jay Z, Kanye might be killing it but Jay Z is a legend. Wade isn’t at legendary status yet. Show some respect

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULAvG4WxQp0 CubicleDunker

Kobe was also hurt the majority of the season. Remember him dropping 40+ point games with a broken finger? Probably not…

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

Yeah, you want to compare a broken finger (which was 2 seasons ago…so yes, i do remember, do you?) to a Knee that needs surgery? In basketball, which do you think is more important?

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

Dwyane Wade had better numbers in 2009, when the second best player on his team was Michael Beasley. So there goes that stupid ass theory that him being a second fiddle is why he’s more efficient….

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

and we aren’t talking about career accomplishments. i don’t give a flying fuck about what they have done over their careers. that’s totally meaningless in a conversation about whose better today.

  • LakeShow

Can I get a link to this “regular cooking” that takes place?
I seem to miss these Bean cookings.
Bryant kills Wade in their head to head match ups.

  • LakeShow

Also, while Wade is better at blocking shots and stealing the ball, Bryant is still the better one on one defender due to him not gambling like Wade ALWAYS does.

  • 23

I understand the injury, i honestly do. But people make it seem like Lebron had a prime wade and prime bosh all season & playoffs long. Im not really hating on wade because you can’t do anything about injuries except wait. But wade was far from playing at a top 5 nba player IMO. bosh imo was able to play thru his injury better. Altho obviously wade and bosh play 2 totally different games at different speeds.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

Wade, last year was, 3rd in PER during the regular season (which is obviously at a top 5 level), given all the other things i’ve shown about his performance i think it’s pretty clear he’s still top 5. Now in the playoffs he was obviously hurt, and it’s not like a month of playoff action negates all of what he’s show that he still is when even relatively healthy.

  • 1tail

Of all time? Wow, bold statement. Tell Mitch Richmond that Wade is better than him.

  • Datkid

the only times wade hasn’t outperformed kobe, w/ the heatles are when the heat aren’t healthy, or when he he hasn’t actually played. and even before then he went shot for shot w/ him in 09, and destroyed him on christmas day a couple years back.

  • Datkid

i don’t agree on kobe being the better one on one defender. who defended westbrook better in the playoffs? despite being injured?

  • pposse

like the time wade gave kobe a 40 pt christmas present?

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

@disqus_j65FuvcSML:disqus Wade gambles away from the ball. Much like Kobe used to, except Wade is more athletic and has more timing than Kobe did (this is not an insult, it’s just true) so Wade blocks more shots and gets more steals. He also gives up a ton of points off of over gambling….much like Kobe used too, except Wade probably gets caught gambling more often as Kobe was just smarter about it.

    .
one on one though, Wade is clearly the better defender. Who was better one on one (prime vs prime)? Probably Kobe, but that was 6-7 years ago.
