Jeremy Lin Says He’s 10 Pounds Lighter and Completely Healthy

Jeremy Lin is the face of the Houston Rockets’ franchise, despite his reluctance to accept his new role. Lin says he’s lost 10 pounds during the offseason, and that he has recovered fully from left knee surgery. Reports the Houston Chronicle: “He said he has been going through full workouts since early July, working with a shooting coach, a skills coach and different trainers for his lower and upper body. Lin said he especially worked on using his left hand and rapid decision-making. And while insisting he would not separate himself from his teammates despite his notoriety, he said he will be more of a vocal leader than in his 12 days trying to make the team last December. ‘I don’t know if I’m the face of the franchise just yet,” Lin said, while surrounded by about 40 media members. ‘We’re a young team, and we’re all going to buy in. The thing about us is it’s not going to be any one person that is going to carry us where we want to go. It’s going to be everybody.’ Lin’s greatest concern might have been the rapid acquisition of furniture, including an actual bed. He seemed much more comfortable than he often did in the New York spotlight or at the news conference following his return to the Rockets in July. ‘I learned a lot in New York,’ Lin said. ‘It happened so fast I think I learned (about) basketball, but I think I learned a lot about people, a lot about life. That’s was huge. On the outside looking in, it might have been all about the glitz and the glamour, but it was really tough for me to handle everything, from all aspects. The biggest thing (learned) is what it takes to be consistent every night and to do well every night. It’s one thing to do well once a week, twice a week, but to do it three, four times a week takes a lot of mental focus.’ [...] ‘We’re not coming into it expecting to lose or expecting to do bad. I think it’s cool that we’re under the radar. That’s kind of been in some ways a story of my life, going under the radar. I think I’m comfortable there, and I think this team is comfortable where we are.’”

10 lbs lighter than what, I wonder. I’m assuming there was a bit of weight gain after the operation during the recovery period. So does this mean he’s back to around 200 lbs?

Actually a lot of point guards in the NBA are significantly lighter than Lin. It’s better for his knees if he loses weight.
