Tim Hardaway Thinks Derrick Rose Should Sit Out the Entire Season

Tim Hardaway has been down the same path that Derrick Rose is walking, knee injury-wise. And the former NBA point guard would advise Rose to miss the whole year, in order to fully recover from knee surgery. Per ESPN: “Chicago native and former NBA All-Star Tim Hardaway keeps hearing a potential March return for Derrick Rose, whose recovery from left ACL surgery reminds Hardaway of his own journey back from that injury, and that personal experience is why his target date for the Bulls point guard is farther off than most. Hardaway thinks Rose should sit out the entire 2012-13 season. ‘I’d just rather have him take his time, so he can be 100 percent, because he’s like me, running and jumping,’ Hardaway said. Hardaway pointed out that his injury was similar to Rose’s, a freak, non-contact injury on a routine play. Hardaway was going up for a layup on March 3, 1993 against the Los Angeles Lakers when he tore his left ACL, and he missed the entire next season. Rose jump-stopped to shoot his trademark floater in the fourth quarter of Game 1 in the first round of last season’s playoffs against the Philadelphia 76ers. Hardaway remembers the months after the incident, thinking over and over again, ‘Am I going to come back the way I want to come back?’ But he overcame any doubt and stayed the course, relying on faith, confidence, his family and new eating habits, and he was able to return in 1994-95 and didn’t have to deal with the ACL again — even after his career. Hardaway said one thing is certain about Rose’s recovery: It will make him a better shooter. ‘His jumpshot is going to come back a lot better than what it was,’ said Hardaway, who is now a community liaison and scout for the Miami Heat. ‘I’ll tell you that. His jumpers and his free throw percentage is going to be up. I’m telling you. That’s all you can do. You can’t do anything else, but shoot around and just shoot free throws.’”

The Bulls will still make the playoffs without Rose. Tanking = soft

    You suck clown!

  • Drig

Nash was the MVP when Kobe, Shaq, LeBron, Dirk, Duncan, Wade and KG were all more or less in their prime. Your logic is idiotic.

  • Drig

How was rose last year better than Kobe? Since the top 4 is pretty much locked up. Hell, over the course of the season, how was Rose better than Westbrook/Rondo or even TP?? He’s gotta play in order to be at the top.

  • pposse

well…he had better averages than both of them, had a better team record then them both, and he beat up on TP when they played head up. For D rose not to be considered a top 5 baller these past two years is simply you guys hating, when it was clear that over the past two years he was probably a top 3 hooper if not top 2 with him and lebron…whatever i hope he reads your post and proves you to be a clown

  • pposse

nash was in his prime too..your only proving your ability to be good at revisionist history…his teams were championship contending teams, favorites led by one steve nash, he was flat out hooping at a better pace than most of those guys…kobe wasn’t even getting into the playoffs…KG was losing in the playoffs, and Dirk was getting eyed by nash here and there. Duncan and Lebron were doing work, but idk if Lebron was even in the playoffs those years either since he was so young. I specifically stated numerous times on here that WINNING comes first in my book…dont you ever come at me like my logic is flawed..i dont need to repeat myself or even address someone who can’t remember what was told to them 2 months ago, let alone 4+ years ago, go watch tape and come back to me slim

Nash was NOT the best player during those MVP years is all I’m saying. In the POs, vs players I mentioned above who had similar strength teams, he wouldn’t have won. Winning the MVP doesn’t automatically make you top 5. Infact, I don’t think I put Nash ever in my top 5 even when he was SSOL’ing the L. In ’04, Kobe, KG, Duncan, Shaq and TMac were top 5. In ’06, Kobe, LBJ, KG, Duncan, Shaq and DWade were vying for the top 5. Maybe it’s just me who had it going that way :

  • Drig

He played 30 odd freaking games!!! That’s almost half the season on the bench. And sadly didn’t manage to stay on the court in the POs. That alone removes him from the discussion of the top 5 players of the ’12 season. That’s the only reason I dock Wade’s score too. Over the past two years, did Durant and Dwight cease to exist in the NBA?? Honest question.

  • pposse

in the 30 games d rose did play he was very effective, especially at the end of games. I’ll give Durant his props, if there are two better players in the L it would be Durant and Bron. Dwight is very good, but sorry i can’t put him as a top 3 ball player (he is a top 5), his offensive inabilities are glaring, especially when the guy’s go to move is a left handed hook shot. It is my belief that certain players have an ‘aura’ per say around them..its physically present but u just can’t see it…its a belief thing. That’s the only way i can explain the chi bulls ending the regular season with the best record, but then as soon as d rose goes down for good we immediately lose (to an 8 seed) and that ‘aura’ is lost instantaneously. It should also be noted, that IF d rose did make it thru the playoffs win lose or draw, he would have been the starting pg in the olympics…pretty much beating out a guy that is most likely in your top 5 in cp. We would never kno for sure, and no one would ever get a straight answer from coach K about it..but there is nothing that cp3 could do in olympic practices indvidually to outshine rose – it would be something new if cp did cause he never outshined him on the court in head to head matchups (statistically and in wins)

i just want to say top 5 is a lot different than top 7, and nash might not have been the best player, but he was a top 5 ball player in those years (in my book)

yea i agree with tim or say bye bye to derrick rose’s career.
