Danny Granger Out Indefinitely With Left Knee Soreness

Bad news out of Indiana on the first day of the NBA season — Danny Granger and his troublesome left knee will be out of action for an indefinite amount of time. From the Pacers’ website and Indy Star: “The Pacers announced Tuesday that forward Danny Granger will be out ‘indefinitely’ with soreness in his left knee. He is to receive a second opinion, with an update to follow. Granger injured a tendon in his left knee toward the end of the second-round playoff series with Miami last season, and tweaked it during off-season workouts. He received a platelet-rich plasma injection in Los Angeles on Sept. 16, a procedure in which blood is drawn from the patient, spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-poor plasma, and injected into the damaged tendon. [...] Granger has dealt with the injury throughout the preseason. When the workload increased in preparation for Wednesday’s opener at Toronto, the pain didn’t go away. [...] ‘It’s a limiting type of pain,’ head coach Frank Vogel said. ‘He can run and jump and play, but he’s, like, limping and a little gimpy. He lacks explosiveness.’”
